people call this rushed, but to me this makes sence the villagers are scared & have there nets and harpoons ready but they see them help Giulia Massimo (who is known for hunting sea monsters) is ready to attack, but see the monsters help his daughter & he recognizes the boys in there monster forms, the boys he grew fond of and nobody wants to go against a tall buff guy, who despite missing an arm, is super skilled with knives, which he always carries around and while the police lady was unsure on what to do, the villagers did know what to do

I think also because this movie is set in the modern era, people on the whole are probably less likely to believe in the existence of sea monsters than one would give credit.

@@jimmyrahi427 I think it's because it would have been so easy to write him as a murderous fisherman who would hunt the boys in their fish forms and can't be bothered to listen to reason, then sweep all that under the rug when he finds out the truth because "he didn't know," like that excuses bad behavior. Here, they managed to avoid that, so while he may not be an interesting character, he's still a likable character.

I realise something: Luca and Alberto has different eyes than the humans: Their sclera (usually white) is yellow, while their pupil (usually circular) is actually oval shaped. This shows that Pixar really puts in effort in designing the characters by putting inspiration from actual reptiles.

I think Alberto was scared that Massimo would hate him or be angry that he lied. Or Alberto feels ashamed of being a sea monster. It makes me feel sad for Alberto in that moment. I got choked up when Massimo protected them.
