This is amazing! I am going to Lucerne from Sweden the entire summer for work, and I am thinking about getting a drone for aerial views. I am not sure as to if I should pick DJI Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4 Pro

Henrik Nilsson if you can handle having to carry around such a huge drone as the phantom 4 pro (in comparison to the mavic) and having to put the props on and so on, get the 4 pro. It's clearly a better drone. But if you want a small and easy, yet powerful and capable drone you can take everywhere, get the mavic!

Beautiful stunning footage! I've just experimented myself the capabilities of the mavic, just uploaded my first aerial video in 4k shot pretty close to your location. I'm waiting for my nd filter set to arrive so had to stick with high shutter speeds unfortunately.. But i tryed to make realy slow shots so that the clips do not flicker to much, especialiy the details in the trees. Thr camera has definetely some limitations, but nonetheless i'm impressed with the results you can get up with if you pay attention to details. I find it difficult to expose correctly with the kind of low dynamic range the mavic camera has. In my shot i exposed manually and even using histograms i managed to overexpose some zones of the image. Furthermore when i used the shadow/higlight filter in post on one clip with slightly prop shadow it turned out completely flickering, but i noticed only when the few hours rendering were finished. Now i'm rendering again for a new upload. Can't wait to see what you will come up next! Keep going!

Emanuele Garofalo i experienced the same problems sometimes. Nd filters help tremendously, but it still is a "better iphone camera that can fly". I shot a gorgeous scene in which i was flying slowly under the trees and it was flickering a lot, thus ususable. I might consider buying a modified gimbal cover hood that functions as a sun shade with the cutouts. But for now i've been very happy with the mavic. What color profile did you use?

Hey! This video is one of my favorite Mavic Pro videos on KZbin, its absolutely beautiful work! Just a couple of questions... Firstly what brand of ND filter are you using? Secondly, the only way I can find 'art' profile is in the older version of the DJI Go app, are you not using the 4.0 version or am I missing something?

Adam Miller i used an PGY Tech ND8, however, i am thinking about buying polar pro filters soon. I don't know either, i used both apps and the art mode was always there. I upgraded the firmware, but the color profiles never seemed to change. No idea why!

GY Y this video was shot more than a year ago so the rules might have changed. But i don‘t think that it‘s prohibited as long as you don‘t go too high and don‘t enter air traffic routes (airports, hostpitals with heli ports etc). I‘d double check on the swiss drone map where it shows you exactly where you can and can‘t fly! Happy flying mate!

Luca, great shots! Did you have an ND Filter on the lens? Also, did you have your shutter speed set on 1/60? I am getting no shadow detail in my shots, a downside of this sensor it appears. Trees are particularly difficult and appear smudged!

Gary Masson thanks gary! I had a third party ND8 filter on the lens. I used automatic settings and did not fix my shutter speed. The filter did enough already. I used the art profile with reduced sharpness, contrast and saturation. For me that works great and lets me do a lot in post. (Fcpx and color finale) i focus way too often to make sure no shot is ever out of focus haha. What settings did you use when you got the washed out results?

I may have to try that profile and tamper with the sharpness in camera rather than in post. I am a former videographer and photographer so I'm not a novice, but the camera is really starting to irk me. Perhaps my expectations are a little too high because the sensor is nowhere near the quality that I used to shoot with. Check this out from yesterday's tests. 4k at 25fps shutter speed 1/50 ND16. KZbin won't let me post a link here but search "Mavic over Cairngorms" which I have just posted and you will see what I mean. Underexposing seems to really affect this title camera. The trees and bridge on underexposed shots are very bad. Thanks for the info. Really good to see you are making the most of the Mavic.

Gary Masson i see what you mean with the trees. I think it isn't that bad for a mavic, mine don't look that much better either. But a flatter color profile could help maintain the detail in the shadows, especially in the trees. Try out art, i think your results will look a lot better after editing art footage. I haven't tried editing normal profile footage but i'm sure it's a pain! Good luck with your mavic and keep me updated on your results!

KoenigKolt wenn sie unscharf sind habe ich auch keine ahnung. Aber wenn du meinst dass sie eine schechte auflösung haben liegt das vielleicht an der auswahl der auflösung in youtube. Das video wurde in 2.7K aufgenommen (1440p=2560x1440 pixel). Man kann es auf youtube aber in verschiedenen auflösungen anschauen. Unten rechts im fenster kannst du das ändern. Wahrscheinlich ist 360p oder 720p eingestellt. Probiers mal, ich hoffe das ist des rätsels lösung!

Very nice video :) I do think it would be a bit better if you would be even more picky about what shots you use, since there are some shots in the beginning that are not so interesting. Some of the nicer shots in the beginning are,,nice but still unnecessary. IMO. But all in all, great result!

The location is amazing. However, you've got to take more interesting shots. These simply are not good enough for that location. Be more imaginative with the movement of the Mavic. Try creating shots with a foreground and a background, for layers of revealing. Try a sideways reveal or a vertical reveal. Or try a Point of Interest shot circling a church or an interesting building.
