Back in the early 60's I remember this style of yo-yo was called a Butterfly. Like everything else yo-yos have gone high tech.

While these shapes resemble the butterfly, these modern yo-yos are in fact kind of their own thing. They are designed in a fundamentally different way than pre-Year 2000 yo-yos.

all my Favorite yoyoy are also in this price range, or even lower. the yoyojam hybrid era yoyos for example, the protostar, or fundametal yoyos are perfect workhorses. not to mention, the awsome china yoyo stuff like magicyoyo or in the past, auldey yoyos. my most expensive one is the envy64 how expensive was it in the past? 130€? i can not remember, tbh.

And I thought I was a real "hot shot" back in 1951, when Jack Russell (who was a demonstrator for Duncan) taught me a trick called "The Atomic Bomb". He coached me into third place in the Atlanta city championship. These guys nowadays make us all look like helpless players. We were playing with yo-yo's that didn't have the flared edges so you had to be dead on the money to hit that string for the "roller coaster" and then segue into that "Atomic Bomb". And we had to take them apart and sandpaper the axles and insides for longer "sleeps". These guys now are astonishing...love watching them. Now I'm an old man of 85.

Idk about DNA but for godspeed, you have to practice your combo because you can see some yoyo KZbinrs have different combos with their godspeed. I hope this helps

I also had that tire yo yo for my first one. It was so good. I and feeling nostalgia too. I loved it till it broke. Then I glued it together and played with it till it broke again and couldn't be fixed. And I wanted to have another one because other yoyos just aren't the same. It was so good. Best beginner yoyo. The thing is I used it more like a num-chuk whip and hit tin cans with it. It was a weapon and I was good at it.
