I'm 75 years old, and never heard a better sounding quartet in my life. Jeff Chapman is great!

Sadly, none of these Gentlemen are with The Kingdom Heirs anymore. I don't know what happened to Billy Hodges, the Tenor, but I do know that, as of 2022, Arthur Rice, the Lead Singer, retired from The Kingdom Heirs, and is the Music Minister at a Baptist Church in, I think, Virginia. I could be wrong on that, though, but I thought that was what I heard about him. Steve French, the Baritone singer here, sadly went astray from God, and ended up taking his own life, back in June of 2016. Jeff Chapman left The Kingdom Heirs last year, and is now singing Bass for Gold City...and, Man, let me tell you-With the current line-up that Gold City has, this is EASILY THE BEST, that they've sounded in ages!!! Not sure exactly who Gold City's Lead Singer is, but he's the Man for the job! He was a great Lead Singing voice! Chris Jenkins occupies the Tenor spot. Tenors-That's those Guys that can dress like Men, and yet sing real high, like a Woman!😜🤪😜🤪! Daniel Riley occupies the Baritone Spot, and has had that spot for at least 15 or so years. As I mentioned, Ol' Brother Jeff has secured, and occupies, the Bass Singing spot...and ya just gotta know, that he ain't givin' it up for nobody! Jeff Chapman has been singing Bass for over 30+ years, and, The Lord willing, he'll keep on crankin' out those super-low Bass notes!

One thing to sing low, another to sing smooth. Jeff Chapman is a rarity in doing both extremely well

Another Bass That can do these things really well is Eric Bennett, the former Bass Singer for The Kingdom Heirs.

I agree, Jeff is my favorite bass singer in southern gospel. His bass comes through better than any other bass group singer.

...and, just about the time I'd gotten used to Bass Singers like James "The Big Chief" Weatherington (The Statesmen Quartet), J. D. Sumner (The Blackwood Brothers, and The Master's Five), George Younce (The Cathedral Quartet), Tim Riley (The Gold City Quartet, later re-named Gold City), Ray Dean Reese (The Kingsmen Quartet, The Carolina Boys), Ken Turner (The Blackwood Brothers), and Michael T. Holcomb (The Inspirations)....... Along comes Jeff Chapman! This guy can sing some of the most serious Bass, I've ever heard in my life!

+Brandon Lake Agreed. Jeff has to be one of the most underrated in gospel music today. His voice is phenomenal! I really like the Kingdom Heirs version of "Good News From the Graveyard" as well. There are few basses that can match Jeff in terms of resonance and timbre. There are some that can match and even surpass him, but they are few and far between. I will never get tired of listening to his voice.

Sometimes I wonder how a Bass Low Note contest Between Jeff and the late Big Chief W. When he has in his prime would go...

Chapman isn't only a great bass, he's a great singer. As a soloist, I highly doubt there are any basses in the business currently who could come very close to matching his quality.

These four guys are the best. All of them are good. The piano player, the drummer, the string bass have a fantastic combination and they play the best harmony.

At 2:45! That is Jeff's best asset. Besides the lows and cut. He's voice carries allot of head tone projection and sound so good. The only guy that deserves to take the mantle from Tim Riley.
@ronaldshank75893 жыл бұрын
And, come to find out, Jeff Chapman can sing even lower than Tim Riley! Tim can hit a super-low F, but Jeff can go all the way down to an extremely low C! If you compare that note to the Piano Scale, that's only four notes higher than the bottom string of a Piano! I've only heard two other Bass Singers that could either match that. One is Ken Turner, who can hit a super-low C. The other one was, of course, J. D. Sumner, who could go all the way down to at least the bottom of the Piano Scale, which is, I believe, an A O! I've heard one other young Bass Go all the way down to a B O, which is only two notes above the lowest string on a Piano. I wish I could sing anywhere near that low! As it is, though, I'm a Baritone, not a Bass. That's better than what I used to be, which is a High Tenor!
@Myhappyplaceisinherarms Жыл бұрын
@@ronaldshank7589in terms of lowest note sure Jeff is lower than Tim. But in terms of chest voice Tim has just about all the basses in gospel music beat coming in at Eb1 at the lowest. Anything below G1 and G#1 for Jeff is chest-fry and fry.

Lyrics Some of these days I'm going home Where no sorrows ever come, (We'll soon be done) We'll soon be done with troubles and trials; (Troubles and trials) Safe from Heartaches, pain and care, We shall all that glory share, (And I'm gonna) Sit down beside my Jesus, (Lord, I'm gonna) Sit down and rest a little while. Chorus: (We'll soon be done) We'll soon be done with troubles and trials, (Troubles and trials. In that home) Yes, in that home on the other side, (On the other side, and I'm gonna) Shake glad hands with the elders, (Lord, and) Tell my kindred good morning, (Then I'm gonna) Sit down beside my Jesus, (Lord, I'm) Gonna sit down and rest a li'l while. 2. Kindred and friends now wait for me, Soon their faces I shall see, (We'll soon be done) We'll soon be done with troubles and trials; (Troubles and trials) 'Tis a home of Life so fair And we'll all be gathered there, (And I'm gonna) Sit down beside my Jesus, (Lord, I'm gonna) Sit down and rest a little while. Chorus: 3. I shall behold his blessed face, I shall feel his matchless grace, (We'll soon be done) We'll soon be done with troubles and trials; (Troubles and trials) O what peace and joy sublime In that home of love divine, (And I'm gonna) Sit down beside my Jesus, (Lord, I'm gonna) Sit down and rest a little while. Chorus: End: Gonna sit down and rest a li'l while, (Gonna sit down and rest a li'l while.)

Jimmy... I see that you responded to the loss of brother Steve French. Do you have any follow-up information as I also was a big fan (still am) of the Kingdom Heirs and want to know of the healing process of his friends, family, and the group themselves? Norman
@ronaldshank75895 жыл бұрын
If the reports concerning him are true, then his troubles have, theoritically speaking, just begun. I don't like saying that, but he apparently died without God. I'll probably hear some of this "once saved, always saved" drivel from some of our good Baptist people, but Steve French knew that the things he did in the final years of his life were wrong! If he committed suicide, then there's no way to ask God for his forgiveness-ever! Let him that thinketh that he standeth take heed, lest he fall! King Saul started out living for God, but he did something that God never forgave him for. He lied to Samuel, the man of God, twice, and gave excuses for both of those lies! This was concerning the case of the Amalekites in 1 Samuel, the 15th chapter. In the very next chapter, The Bible tells us that The Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil Spirit from God came upon him. That evil Spirit was, of course, a demon spirit. Acts 5-Look what happened there.. Ananias and Sapphire both lied to The Holy Spirit, and God struck them dead for that specific crime against God! The Bible tells of others that were Christians, but that backslid on God to the point that he could no longer deal with them. It is a tragedy what happened to Steve French, but 1:He knew the truth. 2: Unfortunately, he rejected the truth, and look what happened. I'm not going to sugarcoat this. Suicide is a permanent, and unforgivable, sin. I'm nobody's judge, but I must go by the Bible, if I'm going to tell you the truth.
@markdrennen68884 жыл бұрын
I believe when he was forgiven. that covered all his sins, present and future, I believe he is resting with Jesus
@orvillekronz18254 жыл бұрын
beautiful so beautiful.
@ericthomas71953 жыл бұрын
There no scriptural basis for the idea that suicide is a sin which cannot be--or has not already been--forgiven. The "unforgivable sin" is denial of the Holy Spirit.
