Because he wanted to just strike with Craig and did that. He wanted to get Brundage out in 2 minutes and it took him 2 rounds. Craig FINISHED Jamal Hill and Ankalaev and striking for 15 years - Bo has been striking for just 3 years and won a kick boxing battle vs Craig. It's not really about how us fans perceived things, it's about what his coaches want and what their game plan was. If they wanted Bo to shoot a takedown he would have. They wanted that fight on the feet and he won 30-27. This was probably actually a good move to get him confidence on the feet under the bright lights so that when he fights Khamzat or someone with a deadly ground game he can be competent on the feet. He had a game plan, stuck to it, and won easily.

My problem with Bo is that he thinks he’s so much better than everyone. He acts so snobby to anyone who isn’t a wrestler. Plus, something not many people are bringing up is that Bo IS NOT an MMA fighter. He is a wrestler. The thing is people defend Bo by saying “he’s only been doing MMA for 2-3 years, cut him some slack” That’s not an excuse. I maintain the opinion that he came to the biggest MMA organization too early. He’s not used to the sport enough, and if he’s getting pushed this much, someone’s gonna catch him. Bo Nickal is overrated, the hype train is over, and I hope we see him headlining Apex prelims until he has a breakthrough performance like every other prospect right outside of the rankings. He’s in an awful spot in his career right now. He can’t move down, every grappler at 170 would love a shot at fraud checking his wrestling and he’d definitely get taken down, if not submitted by a Sean Brady or Shavkat. If he sticks around at 185, he’ll get finished by any striker with solid takedown defense or good grappler who can mix up the striking. His trump card was wrestling and he isn’t confident enough in it to shoot a takedown on Paul Craig… a glorified gatekeeper known for his grappling accolades outside of the octagon.

@@mikerelva6915 Lil bro, he literally did not. Burns had legit hands at that time, Craig never ever ever had any hands.
@mikerelva69153 күн бұрын
@MartialArtsNk Khamzat was getting LIT UP. How can you deny this? Burns had legit hands? That's funny, because I don't remember people saying that at the time. And for what, a 5'8 dude? A lightweight? Craig is huge, was way taller and longer than Bo but Bo controlled the distance and won 30-27. Any way you cut it, to do that with just 3 years striking experience is impressive. I also agreed that for Khamzat to beat Burns just striking with his limited experience was impressive too, even tho he showed Low Fight IQ in that fight and nearly lost as a result. Both things can be impressive even tho one was a war and one was a less eventful more dominating type performance. Both are phenoms and will meet one day.

Unironically Bo needs to learn something from guys like Merab and Belal, who use takedowns as a weapon to gas out their opponents and keep them guessing on the feet so they can win in the stand up versus superior strikers... not saying he should become boring, but his striking against Paul Craig was boring anyway lmao - this guy has a very low fight IQ to not realise that his wrestling threat is what can make him win the standup, and I can see this guy delusionally thinking he can out strike guys from now on and losing fights he could win because of it.

22:00 minutes of the video: What was going on in our minds was why is the best wrestler in the UFC doing boxing and not wrestling? I don't know if it was Bo's idea or his coaches idea to no wrestle at all in the fight. I just figured after Bo watching Khamzat destruction of Robert Whittaker just a few weeks ago Bo would understand, like Khabib, you can dominate the fight and the sport as a wrestler. And most of the time in the 1st round if you're that good.

@eldgepollard59062 күн бұрын
@@discoshrew7403That's not how fights are scored. In round 2 craig got hurt so that's not true. The entire fight bo landed the more damaging strikes it was competitive but not that close. And we're talking retrospectively now but do you really think its a better idea to plan to grapple with craig instead of strike?
