It’s not just MVPs speed guys, it’s his stance, style and reach. I’ve said it for years - mvp is the hardest guy to fight on the feet. He is fast and unorthodox enough in the feet to where even great strikers can’t mount much offense against him. Remember Paul Daley shooting for takedowns out of complete desperation?! What about when Holland was completely ineffective vs Page? MVP is a phenom of sorts on the feet yet it’s also in a way hard to watch his fights because it’s either awkward stalemates on the feet, Page winning by ko or him getting out grappled

It's quite remarkable, and somewhat embarrassing, for a kickboxer to join the top MMA promotion and completely dominate the best fighters in two divisions, not just by decision but through outright knockouts. This suggests that the skill level at the higher weight classes may not be the absolute best in the world. For instance, a casual observer seeing Jiri get kicked in the head with his hands down would find it hard to believe he was a former champion. It seems that if you're athletic enough, you can find success in MMA at the higher weight classes.

With that performance on 303, Anthony should never talk about facing Alex ever again. Better yet, he should seriously consider hanging up the gloves. He got outstruck by Roman Dolidze, a fucking middleweight. Having said all that; on paper, Anthony beats everyone on the current roster.
@LynxxMan5 ай бұрын
Brother, please! I'm a big Pereira fan but saying few people can beat him in human history is insane, he was beat by Izzy, he has losses in kickboxing, there's probably dozens of kickboxers out there that are just as good. Alex just happened to be in the right place at the right time, the rivalry between him and is the reason he got a title shot that fast.
@morthread0175 ай бұрын
Nah ur wrong, Alex was the best in the kick boxing sport in his end of the career. You don't need to look at his past lost u casual, fighters got better and matured overtime so you need to look at his recent fights. His past loss was when he was still young and developing, while his loss against Izzy was due to him sucked in and dehydrated as a middleweight to have a vulnerable chin and Izzy is just as good as Poatan in the middleweight division. But this new Pereira at LHW is a freak of nature now that he filled his frame with muscle and his fighting skills on a peak.

Also with the Lopes vs. Ige fight, Ige has been in training camp for a known fight while Lopes and Ortega was thrown together when Conor pulled out. So not only did Lopes have much less time to get ready for the fight than Ige, he was also much lighter as you mentioned than Ige. If anything this fight benefited Ige much more than Lopes. Short notice while being at 145 against a guy who already was in camp and didn't have to cut anywhere near as much weight.

@shartsimpson214 Athletes doesn't mean ripped and shredded to the bone like Paulo Costa you casual 😂. Pavlovich is incredibly fast for his size, and has an athletic build, he is not fat at all, Almeida is ABSOLUTELY an athletic beauty... he's 234lbs or so and he's ripped to the bone even though that's probably mostly roids and he can throw 260lbs men around like children, almeida would submit alex in the first round SO easily. Robelis despaigne fights like jiri prochazka except he's 6ft7 inches tall, 262lbs heavy, and he moves much faster than pereira would at 245lbs which his coach says would be the optimal weight for HW pereira. Derrick lewis looks fat sure, but behind that belly he's a bit like DC, his hands are really quick for his size and his gas tank is really impressive for a fat dude. I mean the guy survived getting beat down by alexander volkov for 5 rounds and in the last 30 seconds he somehow gained a magical cardiovascular machine gas tank and landed a lucky barrage of blpunches which knocked out volkov (keep in mind volkov had lewis best by 5 whole rounds until that last 30 seconds of round 5).

Nobody on this card "had " to cut weight. There are appropriate weight classes for everyone. Unless you're above 265 no weight cut is necessary. It's a choice they all make therfore it can't be an excuse for anything. Cutting weight is dumb. Nobody has ever won or lost a fight because the other guy was 3 pounds heavier or lighter. Just because it's always been that way doesn't make it right. Cars used to not have seat belts. Weigh everyone in while checking their cup and gloves. They're either in the weight range or not.

Was tough to see Jiri done like that even tho I bet on it, it was Wilnis all over again. If only he pulled a Garry. In that sense it’s his own fault, Musashi famously was late to his greatest duel in order to troll his rival and gain an advantage. Bro was too proud and wanted to beat Alex in his own wheelhouse. Felt a bit let down by air jourdain who fucked my multi, bro looked shook AF. Obviously that power is different Edit: I would bet on Pereira but I think you are underrating Ankalaev. He is on a remarkable run but it’s not like he just kills everyone. Bruno Silva back in the day, Izzy withstood it for four rounds and then another two, Blachowicz. Has Ankalaev even been wobbled? He is a more threatening wrestler than Jan and he can take some comfort in the fact that he and Jan fought to a draw and Jan basically fought Alex to a draw I think you can call the third for either MVP or Garry. MVP fucked up by letting him back up. Definitely a moral loss for Garry, dunno why he took the fight at all, it was a bad matchup on the feet. Leg kicks vs long right hands like he said

You say that like Paul Craig don’t have really good bjj lol
@MMAisTHEbestSPORT085 ай бұрын
That was like 30 fights ago and Paul Craig is like Michael Johnson... one day they're beating the best in their division, and the other day they're losing to bums. Michael Johnson best dustin poirer among the many greats, but he's also lost to absolute nobodies during his prime... magomed losing to Paul Craig is not only COMPLETELY irrelevant to alex pereira vs magomed ankalaev, but it's only merely a testament to magomeds weakness in maybe defensive grappling, but magomed doesn't have to worry about his grappling defense against alex pereira because everybody knows alex has horrible offensive grappling and he'll probably never get a submission in his entire ufc career. There's also the fact that magomed ankalaev probably does have really good grappling defense, but Paul Craig has one of, if not the best back-grappling in the ufc... by that, I mean, his grappling is insane when he's on his back which is odd because most BJJ practitioners do better on top than on bottom, any grappler or wrestler can attest to that. You've proven yourself to be completely unknowledgeable about MMA 😂

Magomed literally never finished anyone other than Bumthony Smith on the ground, and he got submitted by Paul Craig, no matter how you try to spin it, that absolutely destroys any credibility on Ankalaev being the "Khabib" of LHW Jan, a far better offensive grappler than Magomed, cause he had 9 sub win under his belt while Magomed has none, failed to make a less experienced Pereira tap despite having him in the best position to do so. What made you think Ankalaev will be the one to do so? Is it cause of his Dagestani root? Let me guess you picked Aliskerov to beat Whittaker as well 😂😂
