Our family drove into Pesaro, that night, to find the streets deserted! We saw the Pesaro colonnade on the TV and realised Luciano was singing in the packed square. We joined them to hear his wonderful voice. Just as we have often heard him at the Pizzeria on the local mountain above his holiday retreat. O, dearest Pesaro, home of my mother, Rossini and Pavarotti's treasured nest!

yes as Leone magi era says he best male voice of all time, they did 1000 plus concerts. first he had the voice, the basic voice, but kissed by god, (Karajan) then he had technique, 7 years training, superb control, peerless diction, and huge resonating chambers. like the sound difference between a violin and a stand up bass. His voice sounds so rich, so clear, no odd sounds, just pure multi levered beautiful voice.

I was there!! My ticket cost 10,000 Lira which in 1986 was about £3.50 in sterling - in today's money that is just £7.53!! It was a beautiful summer's evening in Pesaro. I went to see him again at Hyde Park in 1991 but it poured with rain all evening and the view was a sea of umbrellas. Grande Pavarotti.

@@ellenlyons7413 I was in my early 20's working as a holiday company rep (Thomson Holidays) on the Adriatic Riviera. Someone gave us free tickets - can't remember who, we were always being give free stuff. I'd never head of Luciano Pavarotti but it seemed like something different to do - can't believe how lucky I was! My family are sick of me telling the story every time Pavarotti is mentioned. Must watch again and see if I can spot us!

Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007), morto da 16 anni ormai ma non sara mai dimenticato. Una voce incredibile, una voce come i raggi del sole italiano su un campo di girasole. Peccato per me no avere mai sentito Pavarotti vivo, e neanche I Tre Tenore. Non so francamente perche non avevo mai tentato di ottenere un biglietto per sentire questo grande maestro del'opera. Negli intervisti, Pavarotti sembrava generoso, caloroso, umile, intelligente e con una mente sottile ed analitico. Altri tenori che amo sono Franco Corelli, Fritz Wunderlich, Giuseppe di Stefano, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Beniamino Gigli, Mario Lanza pero Pavarotti rimane il re dei tenori per me. RIP Luciano Pavarotti, il maestro di Modena.
