In this video we run a DC fast charging test on the Lucid Air Pure and pull together a charging curve graph.
We also test out the plug and play feature that Lucid has with Electrify America as part of their 3-years of free charging partnership.
We do run into some charging station bumps at the EA station that are discussed.
Enjoy!

It’s a great vehicle. The inside is very nice in my opinion. The perfect blend of luxury and minimalist. It drives great. Charges great. Storage is the best I’ve seen for a sedan. And it is still a head turner. More so than even our Rivian. The main negative is the regular dream drive which I have does not have a 360 camera or true lane centering. It has lane keep assist but it’ll ping ping you back and forth if you try to go hands free for a bit. At this price point, those should have been standard. If you got dream drive pro, this is a non-issue. The roof on the front end is a little low so you just need to get used to this when getting in and out of the car. The app is little slow to wake the vehicle at times but that will get fixed with software updates I’m sure. Other than those, it really is a great car. You’ll enjoy it for sure and won’t regret it!

I have a lucid. It’s hard to charge at any station and my car has been in the service center many times. I’m not joking. Oh! The battery was entirely replaced at 3000 miles, i took it in because it was showing error messages not battery related. They do a battery testing just in case and it was faulty so they had to change it

Just charged last night at an EA, and got full speed. Best part about it, there was a Polestar there charging that was at 50% when I plugged in and I was at 7%. By the time I hit 74% I was at 350 miles, and Mr. Polestar was at 90%....with a max range of 320! I was LMAO as I drove away with a larger charge and a faster time.

In my AGT I've seen over 300kW occasionally but the 350kW EA chargers are not very reliable, especially when it's hot weather. For me, when travelling I often stop and just get a little charge every couple hours. This lets me stretch my legs and avoid fatigue. That can mean I sometimes plug in at 30% or more. In that case or if stopping for longer that 20 minutes (getting lunch or going shopping) I will just start out with the more reliable 150kW chargers. My Lucid regularly draws 171kW on the 150 chargers until the charging curve tapers off.

@Miata822 hit first 350w charger a few days ago at 30% SOC, it pulled around 220kw/h. By the time I got 50% it was around 150, at which point the charger no longer mattered. Given the nature of the curve, 350kw chargers are not worth being excited about for this car, but might be for other models worth more aggressive curves.
@Miata822

@@coma13794 The fastest way to travel long distances is to plan to arrive at charging stations with less than 10% and charge just enough to get to your next stop with no more than 10%. This works with any EV and especially well with the Lucid. Interestingly at EA stations if the 350s are full I get 170kW from the 150 chargers, but nobody in any EV is getting 350 at 30%. That's just a battery thing. Using 'A better Route Planner' app will help you plan trips . EDIT- Oh! and use Preconditioning on the charging menu to have the battery optimized to charge when you get to the charger.

I had ordered a lucid but because the charging network (AE) is so inferior and undependable compared to tesla's super chargers, I canceled my order with lucid and rivian. I decided to keep my MX's. I have never been to a supercharger that has not worked flawlessly. 3rd party charging networks have been nothing headaches for me.
@EV-365

Tesla is opening up the networks soon. Rivian has announced they will provide adapters. Lucid, not yet, but they will once Tesla has more of their new chargers out there that can maximize the Lucid's charging speeds.

Recently EA has really dropped the ball on their Hyper Chargers....Where I would normally jump to over 300KW on the start, it now on the hyper charger is only pulling 30KW. And I don't charge during the day, I normally charge between 2 and 3 AM. Way off peak hours....I basically said to hell with it and charged at home. Stupid performance. I reported the experience with Lucid Custome Care and the logged the issue with EA. That was my only time I had such a terrible experience with them. But I noticed you had to press continue, which I have never had to do. But the time I just explained, I had to use the LUCID app to confirm charging, which I have never had to do before. So very frustrating, especially if you run the car down to those lower levels...because then you are stuck there until you can charge up enough to at least get home. SMH

@@EV-365 I'm glad you're posting. Not much on Lucid Pure here. Most are Lucid GT. I didn't see any charging rollercoaster on your video. Ramp up was a bit slow so you had to change stations. Perhaps with Pure and Touring being lower voltage they will not get the surge problem. EA has got to do better.

You mentioned charging slows down as you approach or exceed 80%. That's incorrect, the curve kicks in well before that. Look at the speeds in this video. At each 10% mark, it's going slower and slower. It's a mistake to imply that it can hold the max charging rate to 80%.

@amjads8971 you can, but if your electrical panel can support an additional 100 amp breaker worth a real world 80a draw, then I'd pick up a lucid charger instead, second hand for around 600 bucks. They charge at 19.2kw/h, twice as fast as a 40a, charger. Doesn't matter for overnight, sure, either gets the job done, but does matter for day-of turnarounds.

Keep in mind, if you charge at home, you're starting every day with a 'full tank' (or 80%, more likely, to preserve battery life). My concern would be if I was routinely doing many hundreds of miles on a regular basis into areas with few charging options, Short of THAT, I'm not seeing the issue. There is a feeling of anxiety that seems misplaced...like everyone is suddenly a professional long-haul trucker.
