Memories of Black: Black had a terrible start to the competition, placing 24th/27 in race to the bowl. - He then got 23rd/26 in Mountain Biking. Since the marbles who did worse than him in the event were higher up on the leaderboard, and the marbles who were lower than Black on the leaderboard prior to today's event did much better than him, he got eliminated

Black's memories: Black didn't start out good getting 24/27 only collecting 4 points. Black was the worst biker in his group (the lowest on the scoreboard) arriving in 54 seconds. He got 23/26 gaining 6 points and ended up eliminated with 10 points on the scoreboard.

I use a script that runs a few million simulations for placings in the next event (Monte Carlo method). Here is the script I use (it's written in Rust): github.com/LucidSigma/ChanceOfElimination I also have an old one written in Processing 3 that I used for my Algicosathlon here: pastebin.com/7pTjuPY1 I believe there is a video tutorial made for this one by someone else on KZbin somewhere.

@@TexoTempora coming back to this 2 years later, i figured out a method for getting it spot on, and its actually relatively fast (O(N^3)), compared to the O(N!) of the naive method. i'm not sure which would come out as faster in the example of 30 athletes, probably the Monte Carlo method, but for smaller amounts of athletes, not only is it more accurate its also faster, like in the range of 6 - 16 is probably the best before the O(N!) takes over. the only problem is that its to complex for me to code it lol still, i used this and it served me well, its a good method and probably accurate enough for most practical purposes. thanks again!
