Number 8 Lucie is a type IV vertical boilered steam locomotive built by the John Cockerill Company in 1890, for the East Brussels Tram company. After the EBTC was bought out by SNVC, the tramway was regained to metre gauge. Lucie was sold to the Vieille Montage Mining Company, Angleur, before moving onto a sugar factory in Silly.
The locomotive was brought to United Kingdom in 1987, being restored at Peak Rail at their original Buxton base. The loco later moved to the Middleton Railway.
The locomotive was overhauled at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, returning to traffic in 2020, making its public debut at events in 2021, where we see the tram engine at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway and North Yorkshire Moors Railway Autumn Steam Gala, were the engine is seen shunting trucks at Levisham station. We also see the engine before it moved the Grosmont, on display in the exhibition hall at the Middleton Railway.
