Great video. I've seen Lucie No 8 doing demo runs at Levisham during a gala but this shows her running beautifully and also shows how lovely a line this is. A credit to you all. Thanks Steve

What a gorgeous little locomotive you’re showcasing. I love smaller locomotives, although most of them can only haul short trains.

G’day from Puffing Billy Railway in OZ! What a Fabulous Loco Lucie is🚂. I am booked to visit NYMR (one of many visits I make) on 26th September 2024 - the first day of the Autumn Steam Gala. I am particularly looking forward to travelling behind Locos 4079, 92134 and to seeing Piglet’s Lucie in action plus all the other visiting and home based Locos running on the day. Thanks for a great video starring Piglet and Lucie, guys. Cheers and good luck with the Gala from Puf’n-Pete and PBR.

Fantastic journey. Im curious why you keep looking at the smoke coming out of the chimney. Many thanks.
@nymrfootage4 ай бұрын
@@robinanoble4664 when the smoke goes clear or very light grey it's time to put more coal on. The fireman is checking the chimney rather than constantly opening the firehole door to check the state of the fire. This method also stops lots of cold air entering and cooling the firebox

boys in action !!! LOL😄how long is this track and what's the top speed ? LOL
@nymrfootage4 ай бұрын
@@sellier-bellot22 18 miles from Grosmont to Pickering and 24 miles from Whitby to Pickering. Top speed is 25 mph as it's classified as a light railway. The steep hill between Grosmont and goatlhand is at 1:49 gradient although parts are 1:37, so a 7 coach train rarely makes it 25 mph diecthe steep incline

Around 4:45 - The frame of a larger locomotive? Do you happen to know which this is?

I'm amazed how fast it goes for a tram engine. Why does the fireman keep leaning out to look over the cab roof? Is that his best view of what is coming out of the chimney? And - I don't see him operating any injectors. Does it have an axle pump?
@jozefbubez61164 ай бұрын
Ah! The day that Man discovered you could put a kettle on wheels and make it powerful enough to drive itself! P.S. I wasn't paying too much attention at the start but did you remember to whistle before moving off? Cheers and happy puffing!
@nymrfootage4 ай бұрын
Due to local residents complaining about noise pollution, whistles are no longer to be blown by train crews when a train departs Grosmont station unless there is a need to provide a warning

Is it only me, or is the firebox door opening towards the wrong side?
@Bigaid4 ай бұрын
These engines were primarily used as industrial shunters. They were mostly single manned, so the firehole door opened for the convenience of the driver, They weren’t intended for long distance running and would rarely have been fired on the move.

Where’s the coal on this locomotive? There’s no tender area behind her, so where is it kept on such a tiny locomotive? In the cab?
@JakeJowett-me8eg4 ай бұрын
its kept below the bell if you look its a small coal bunker
@Gazr9654 ай бұрын
It is stored in the coal box on the right, where the stoker kept shovelling it out from the bottom hatch and throwing it into the fire box, you may need to watch it again to notice😎 Gaz Yorkshire.
