Hi. I bought this machine used, and it came without the manual, so I have just been using your video to learn it, which is great! But do you know if its possible to get the manual online somewhere?

I’m going to try and scan my manual for this machine onto my PC. Hopefully in PDF format. Let me know if you still need copy. I could always scan and print and post you a copy.

Very interested in this machine , you sold it to me. You stated how important the strength of thread. With you experience which make would you recommend.

Madeira Aerolock or Moon threads are both strong. Aerolock creates less lint.

Hi Jan, thank you so much for this video! I've just ordered my very first overlocker which is the LUCIE by Success. We all know that overlockers can be very intimidating for beginners that are only used to using sewing machines but this video has helped me to feel more confident about using it when it (hopefully!) arrives tomorrow! I'm hoping to make and give a nice finish to the seams on my doll clothes. Once again, thank you for making this video, I really appreciate the time that you have taken to make it so indepth! All the best, Natasha @ little arkington P.S. Can I just add that you are an excellent teacher too!

Hi Jan, I got my Success Lucie yesterday and I've been having a play around today. I'm having trouble reproducing the result that you got with the light weight cotton in the video. I'm having to push all of my tensions for needles and loopers to maximum and even then the main needle line isn't super tight. I'm using Quilting Cotton on all of the normal settings. I've also rethreaded incase that was affecting tension. Do you think the calibration on my machine could be off at all? Thanks again! Natasha

Please ensure that you threaded with the foot UP. Failure to do so means the thread is not through the tension disks, so any tension adjustments will have no effect.

@@overlockjan23 Hi Jan, Thanks for your reply! I did try re-threading with the foot up just in case that was an issue but I still get the same results. I will try once more though. Failing that, do you think taking it to my dealer to have a look at might be best? Thanks again! 👋

Bear in mind that a degree of stretch is essential in an overlocked stitch, as they are specifically designed for stretch fabrics. You may find that shortening the stitch gives a better result.

Very helpful, thank you. Which machine is quieter…Lucie Success or a Jaguar overlocker please? Many thanks x
@overlockjan233 жыл бұрын
Not certain on the answer to that? I guess it depends on the model of Jaguar. Maybe a trip to a dealer for a comparison might help!

Thanks. I think the Jaguars are fairly similar regarding the sound volume. None of my local dealers have them in stock. I think both brands seem to be very good though 😊 x

I have this overlocker and I've never quite managed to get it consistently stitching I've always blamed myself but after watching this I think there might be something off with it.. on thin jersey especially I get really loose loops no matter what I do with the tension/knife 😪 do you think if changing the needle and regular cleaning isn't helping it might need a service? Your stitches look beautiful and consistent, very jealous 😭😂
@overlockjan233 жыл бұрын
Thin Jersey can often cause a problem. What happens is the jersey stretches as it goes under the foot, then when the pressure is off, the fabric closes up again, causing the loops. Try it with the Differential Feed on 1.5. If it's still misbehaving, then a visit to the technician might be advisable

@@overlockjan23 thank you for your reply!! Seeing this actually gave me the confidence that the machine was capable and I've managed to get some nice seams on scraps now. I think I'd become scared/frustrated with it and now my general sewing has improved I can troubleshoot better than when I first got it. Thanks again Jan this video has been really helpful for me ☺️
