Welcome to Band-Maid Lucie! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, and Matchless Gum. Their latest live videos from Yokohama Arena are incredible. Don't You Tell Me and Hate are straight up bangers with guitar vs bass duels, and Endless Story is a tear jerker that even choked up the singer, Saiki, and the drummer, Akane, since it was the last song of their 10th year anniversary tour. Also, they just released a collaboration with The Warning called Show Them which is a must listen.

Thanks for the lovely reaction. This is one of the best rock bands on the planet atm. They have a unique sound, and an incredibly diverse and creative catalog. The amount of quality music they've recorded in the past 7-8 years is astonishing. I'd recommend Daydreaming next. It's a fan favorite and shows a different, softer side to them. If you want a harder more metal sound, then check out "From now on" - a modern, instrumental masterpiece imo. (Both are posted on their YT channel.)

Thanks, Lucie. Looked at your playlists and subbed immediately. Anyone who has lists Fauré, Brahms, VOCES8, and -- soon to be -- Band-Maid, automatically gets my support! As you've already probably realized, Band-Maid are -one- -of- the best in the world when it comes to rock composition and instrumental & vocal interaction. And super-consistent. You have so much to look forward to -- so much that it's hard to say where to go next. BAND-MAID are Hard Rock, but they have many influences, Metal among them. But this is nothing. If you want to hear a more Metal influenced BAND-MAID song there's a few to choose from, like 'Rinne', 'Black Hole', 'Different' or 'Warning'. They have a little of everything, not just Metal, soft acoustic ballads as well. They been going strong for 10 years so they have over 100 songs, and nearly every one is a Hit. All killer, no filler! Some were pulled from KZbin ahead of a DVD release, but about 50 are on their official channel. And Ohrenje has Documentaries on all the girls with 3 for founder Miku. They were even in the Netflix movie, Kate.

Miku wasn't able to play the guitar when she founded the band in 2013. I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. My favourite is currently "Corallium", but here is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special LIVE videos try "Freedom", "Corallium", "Play", "Real Existence" and Endless Story. With "Moratorium" (Live at Zepp), "Rinne" (MV) and "Dice" you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are "Choose me" (MV) and this one, "Alone" (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe "About Us" (MV) and "Daydreaming" (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like "From now on" (MV) and "Onset" (Live). And finally a very special mind blowing live performance is "Manners/Blackhole" (Official Online Live). At least these songs are needed to get the full story of Band Maid! And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-) They have rock, pop punk, funk, jazz, prog and more elements in their reportoire! Especially their earlier works are pop punkish About the Maid thing? They use many elements from japanese 'Maid Cafes' where Miku once worked: They call their concerts "Servings" (okyu ji), their audience "Masters and princesses" (goshujin-sama to ojou-sama) and each concert is sweetened by (mostly) Mikus "Magic Spell Time" (Omajinai), a 'magical' moment for everyone ... full of energy! And of course there is their outfit which changed alot since their early days but at least Miku is staying with this classic Maid outfit. You can learn alot more from fan videos and from the wonderful documentary series made by Ohrenje and Kaspar Michael (narrator). Band Maid is much more than just their great songs! Have fun... Note at one time Japanese record companies had no interest in All Female Rock and Metal bands. I'm 2008 a band formed called Aldious and as they couldn't get a record contract they started their own label produced an EP, which sold out overnight proving there was a market for Female Bands. Once they broke the door open all the rest of the bands like BandMaid rushed in. Do Aldious Dominator live Radiant A at O East. If you like Band Maid you'll enjoy them.
