Oh my god! This is one Black woman from the inner city who has loved Lucinda’s music and poetry since I was 21 years old and discovered her over the music speaker at a Barnes & Noble where I worked in 1998. Her words spoke my blues....

I can't believe I'm only now seeing this TDC for the first time. Lucinda is one of my all time favorites. She is the definition of making something difficult look easy. Everything she writes and sings seems so simple at first, but at its depth, WOW. All of life: its troubles, its fears, its heartbreak and the occasional hint of hope and happiness. It's all there. I LOVE her!!!

As usual, something intended to “shake/wake people up” resonates with those who already feel it, and infuriates those who don’t. Empathy lacking, learning only comes after personal trials, if at all. There will always be people who claim to be virtuous, and yet act from the deadly vices - pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, sloth. Their voices are self-assured, loud and public.
