Watched this movie with my wife recently. I first watched in back in 2002 when I was 16 and the movie is just as eerie now as it was for me back then. My wife said this scene was like a video game in movie form and I agree. Characters holed up in a small building while battling a seemingly endless barrage of the undead, it's just perfection!

The way zombies move in this movie was always the best part for me. They just slowly walk forward, silent, with their heads down, like they are sleepwalking. One of the creepiest zombies ever. I love this movie - my favorite Fulci flick

Slower zombies are much scarier. Fast zombies will finish you off quickly, but these ones eat you slow. They are quieter, they would make you think because you can run faster than they can move it's not scary and your not in danger, but it's a false sense of security, imagine running away from a pack of zombies only to find your self at a dead end in an alley, you know you are dead but you have to wait untill they catch up to you. Faster zombies are also more vulnerable to errors, more main characters would be dead (if they lived in a real world, which is what makes the idea of zombies scary) for example, in 28 weeks later, in the beginning zombies break into the room and kinda stand there so he can think about saving his family or not but if they were traditional zombies they would slowly filling up the room, giving more realistic moments to pause for decision making.

Running zombies never worked for me, running gives them some humanity still, while the classic ones are dead bodies wandering around with minimal instincts. And yeah, like you said the classic ones may be easier to avoid and escape from early on, but sooner or later they'll catch up to you. They're like inevitable, much creepier than the fast ones.

This was my first zombie movie I watched as a young kid..I was 11 years old first time watching it around my friends house..my friends dad rented it from the video store back in the early 80s..we waited for his dad to go to work and watched it and after it scared me that much I thought it was going to happen..it played on my mind for days..good memories as a kid😊🇬🇧

The scene is sort of awesome in its own way, but the tension is so high in this scene that you are genuinely scared for the characters as they are swarmed by the living dead. The movie has without a doubt my favourite ending to a zombie film ever, gives me chills seeing them advance along that bridge as the beat drops and the credits roll. One of the best zombie movies, rivalled only by the Romero trilogy, and probably my favourite Fulci movie as well, besides The Beyond!

@Caped Critique Very true, I like that they took the zombie back to its roots in this film, and despite the original Italian title of the film suggesting otherwise, really put their own spin on it, instead of just copying Romero. There is something so creepy about how most of the zombies don’t even have their eyes open. I think it just demonstrates that they are just mindless rotting corpses driven by a desire for flesh and obviously Voodoo magic. Which is ironic in a way because the unique and exceptional makeup designs really give these corpses some character that other zombie films sorely lack. Very disturbing.

These are the scariest zombies of all time. They don't take pleasure in the hunt, and despite marching on with their eyes mostly shut, they always find their prey. Plus, unlike certain Romero zombies they have absolutely NO empathy towards their victims, they kill just as slow as they shamble. Let's just say: of all the zombie apocalypses to be in? You do NOT want to be in the Fulci universe, you will die horrible and slow.

I freaking love this scene! I love how that Zombie kind of flinches when getting shot. I love the make up style! I love how the beat starts when the zombies break through! I love the fire! I love the shadows! I love how it's so effective even though it's so cheap; the Molotov Coctails don't even work until the last one! My only complaint with Zombi 2's finale is that...they kinda just really quickly kill off a bunch of the cast and it's annoying. *spoiler* Dr. Menard gets surprised by a zombie. Fine well an dandy. Then the assistant/laborer gets bitten, the nurse is seemingly saved. Only for the assistant/laborer to already be a zombie and kill the nurse. Bleh maybe the first two could work but have the nurse get killed in the back of the church/clinic or something?

Zombi 2 was the Italian title to cash in on Dawn of the Dead, which was Zombi in Italy. Lax copyright laws. The title is still wrong because they’ve spelt it Zombie not Zombi, but that’s why they’ve titled it as such.

​@@nickv.s125 very well said, the perfect example is on SHAUN OF THE DEAD, while they are both watching the news on the tv, you can see on the background there's one zombie walking and simply just enters their door without them noticing. They are great threats to unsuspected victims.
