Lucio In Plat | A response to Eskay

the strats dont work anymore because lucio isnt overpowered anymore, so in a high elo lobby lucio cant just jump on enemy backline, kill someone and leave for free like he used to. legit think that eskay and frogger are just not very used to having lucio not be broken because he was broken for years and years. like this is hwo most other heroes are, sometimes they are really good and sometimes really bad. lucio has been always played for years because he has always been good.

I agree with your sentiment that the streamers are used to Lucio being much stronger, especially in the past when Overwatch was much more popular. As someone who's been a "DPS" Lucio over the past 6 years, they've sent him into oblivion by feeding the mobility and heal creep on the other characters. I always did the best in ranked when I played him as a mini assassin! But even if you wanted to play him with the team, Lucio was always a good pick because he had a unique playstyle and skillset. However, newer characters being so ridiculously broken have been making him less and less relevant. For Lucio, just having good mobility, decent dps, and consistent self-heals is what made him busted back in the day. He could essentially function as a team buff, dive the backline with your Ball, and get out alive. However, this is way less strong now, as there are other sups like Illari, Kiriko, or Bap, who do much more damage with their primary fire, have offensive ultimates, heal at higher rates from longer ranges, have lamp and suzu, and also have good mobility. Simply being able to dive with the tank or harrass the enemy backline isn't good enough anymore. Plus, the biggest thing that people used to complain about with Lucio was his self healing- he was too hard to kill because he'd just dive the backline, wall ride away, heal up, and then re-dive. Ever since ALL the characters got the healing passive, this playstyle is no longer unique to Lucio. I still think there are plenty of diffferent fun ways to play Lucio, considering the skill floor is so wide in Overwatch. You can still easily dive a widow and soldier in gold. Up to plat and diamond, you can still probably get away with backline shenanigans depending in the enemy comp. But yea, Lucio is way less strong at the higher levels. Not necessarily because they nerfed his boop by 10% or whatever, but because the power creep with the new heroes is getting out of hand.

Lucio back in ow1 wasn't broken either, Lucio in ow2 was never broken for himself either, he was always only broken for his team because of his team, but people made the reddit Lucio playstyle work because there was less power creep tanks were not gigabuffed and of course there wasn't the boop engine problems, it's a 5v5 thing reddit Lucio is not as valuable anymore and we just gotta live with it.

@@JumpsOw Most characters became obsolete in OW2, it's insane.

@@YonJon-vo2nw True, first it was Genji, then hanzo and junkrat, Mercy also feels worse nowadays and let's not even talk about the tank role, it's sad to see the direction the game is going, but they said they are gonna try 6v6 so I'll stay slightly hopeful.

The strats are still “working” because you’re plat. Thats basically bot lobbies. Secondly its hard to say anything you’re doing is working because if it was you’d climb.
