Some years ago, I was fortunate to visit Turkey & still cherish my wonderful time there! A local family in Istanbul graciously invited me to dinner in their home, as their 6 sons had attended universities in America, & they shared their stories of their experiences there. It was such a loving, heartfelt time for me being with them, talking all night until near dawn! So watching these Turkish dramas with English subtitles & seeing the memorable sights of Istanbul & the Bosporus bring back all those sweet memories. Their far, far better stories & great talented actors shine brighter than the falseness of so many inferior Hollywood productions! Thanks so very much for sharing! ❤

What a lucky and fortunate experience for you. To be made welcome in the home of a Turkish family. I hope to to to Istanbul at some point but as an ethnic minority I doubt very much that I will be as fortunate to be asked into someone’s home. Not so easy for black people. I love the Turkish culture, language etc but worried that visiting the country, possibly experiencing racism that it will ruin my current viewpoint on the culture etc. Also I doubt I’ll ever be able to watch another Turkish series ever again if I should be treated poorly by Turkish people in their country.

I must of been watching for 6 years plus now. You'll learn some Turkish along the way. If you go into settings on KZbin and choose auto translate sometimes you can get a section of translation. Do you watch Emanet and also Esaret? I'm watching these at the moment. I've enjoyed Turkish dramas so much that I don't watch UK TV hardly ever anymore. There is no direct translation from Turkish to English. The subs are there to merely guide you and give you the basic idea of the story.
