Saw one recently, guy in car knocks down a little girl in road. FORTUNATELY he had a dashcam. He was going the speed limit, she dashed out in front of him, he immediately slammed his brakes. Neighborhood was mad at first, Dad put a dent in guy's hood, but the cam showed not his fault. And FORTUNATELY while taken to ER all she had was some bruises. I empathize. Mom liked to tell the story of how I'd run out in the road without looking, then one day a cat got run over. She said I walked around and around the poor body -- and never dashed out in the road again.

A shaft spillway is sometimes called a "morning glory" spillway. It is a hollow tower or shaft, usually circular, which has a funnel at its top. The tower sits in the reservoir near the dam. When the reservoir level rises above the top of the spillway, the water flows over its sides and down into the shaft. At the bottom of the shaft, it enters a tunnel.
