I seriously want to credit the cameramen though cause keeping track of that ball seems hella hard
@howardbaxter25146 жыл бұрын
It is, and it isn’t. If the camera is zoomed in properly, you can easily track the ball all the way through because it never leaves your frame, along with the fact that the camera would only be zooming out since the ball is coming towards them. That being said, with clouds, trees, etc. it is easy to lose sight of the ball from that.
@howardbaxter25146 жыл бұрын
I would know this from doing camera work in following a baseball. Personally it is a lot easier to follow a ball with a camera in the outfield than the camera behind Home plate. Camera behind home plate is easier in terms of panning. There you don’t have to pan left or right so much, unlike an outfield camera.

My first eagle was on a public course. It was a par 5 with the green backing-up against a chain-link fence, with a road on the other side of the fence. The green was elevated about 40 feet above the fairway, so if you were 10-40 yards off the green, you couldn't see your approach land on the green. I hit a decent shot onto the green. The two kids I had been paired with, neither of whom I knew, and I walked onto the green. My ball was nowhere in sight. I thought it must have rolled off the back-end of the green, into the scrub along the fence. The teenage boy and I go to the scrub and start pushing it aside with our clubs. Five minutes later, still no ball. Where the hell is it? Finally, the teenage girl says, "it's in the cup." My first eagle, and I didn't even get to see it happen.

@MarcFriedlanderClassicGuitar6 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to quibble - I'm an avid golfer myself. Not good, but avid. Anyway, the thing that separates golf from other sports is that in golf you do NOT compete against others, you play your own game. There is zero interaction with other players. There's no defense. There's no offense. You just play your best round and everyone else does the same. Then you compare scores and the lowest wins. Even in match play, there is nothing you can (legally) do to make it harder for your opponent. So by the literal definition, golf is at least a different kind of sport. And speaking of which, I'm going to play tomorrow at Ladera GC in Albuquerque, NM if anyone wants to join me.

White, mathematically it's not incalculable and you would be surprised how often it would happen. Every time it hits a rock, it has to bounce in a certain direction; it could hit the water (ends there), go back on the grass, or hit another rock. Give it a 65% to hit water, 30% to hit another rock, and 5% to bounce back on the grass. First bounce: 30%, second bounce: 30%, third bounce: 5%. I.e. 1/3 times 1/3 times 1/20 = 1/180 which means there would be a change of one in 180 for this to happen. Varying in percentages gives other odds, but you will see they will not vary spectaculary.
@fosferus6 жыл бұрын
no, from the trajectory and speed at which the ball is headed, the odds that the face of the rock is turned the right way to direct the ball at its current speed to the face of another rock which faces the right way, etc. until it hits the green is so much more incredibly slim than that.. there are so many more variables than "30% chance"
@topneorej6 жыл бұрын
Dan, I gave a 5% chance for the ball to return back on the grass, but even if it's 1%, still the chance is 1/900 which is a little bigger than 1/1,000,000,000,000 as suggested earlier;-) Besides, the simple fact that you have three cases on video already suggests that the odds are not that slim. Just estimate how many shots into the rocks have been seen on TV in the last 50 years, and in three of them the ball returned. So, mathematically: 3/number of shots that hit the rocks.

In March of 2020 me and my friend Ron were playing at Sun Willows in Washington state. The previous week I eagled hole number 4 from the fairway. I texted Ron before our round in which I told him that since I eagled he needed to eagle this week. Hole number one I hit a pretty good drive near the left tree line and was about 120 out. Ron did not make good contact and was short and to the right. He was about 185 out. Ron's approach was a hybrid about 10 yards left of the green and hits a wooden stake placed there with rope to protect some ground under repair. Ron's ball immediately changes directions and is now rolling onto the green, keeps rolling about 50 feet, about to stop and falls into the hole for an eagle. Craziest shot I have ever seen. True story.

Par 4 hole in 1, The most rare shot in Golf...

Dustin Johnson was 5 inches away to tie that on Sunday.

Yeah, I think a Condor requires a par 5 minimum. Most courses don't even go above par 5.

Do par 6 holes even exists? Never heard of such a thing. Although I'm pretty sure a par 5 in one is pretty much impossible already...
@JSSTyger6 жыл бұрын
There is a 964 yard par-7 hole in Japan.

The unluckiest shot ever has to be Jean van de Velde's second shot at The Open at Carnoustie in 1999. On his second shot on the last hole of the most prestigious golf tournament in the world, he hits a thin rail in the stands and instead of a free drop, his ball then hits concrete in the Burn bouncing back even further away from the green into deep rough. He lost the Open, millions in endorsements, his wife divorces him and never wins another tournament. The unlucky bounce destroyed him.

Cool video but these commentators really ruin it... way too boring for me. These shots are unreal and they show like absolutely no emotion whatsoever. Don't even seem excited
@andjustjizzforall6 жыл бұрын
The reason they don't jump and stuff like that is because of the adrenaline. When something like that happens, it doesn't really go through your mind to jump and scream most of the time. And also, since pretty much all of them hit bad shots, they were happy with the results, but not the actual shot itself, which just got a lucky bounce.

Tiger's outrageous hole-out on #16 at The Masters against Chris DiMarco should be included.

Tiger doesn't hit lucky shots. He hits "how did he just do that?" shots.
