I just saw your Lowes clearance plant video. If you visit certain Home Depots, in the large blue dumpsters next to the garden section, you can find a lot of plants that were thrown away that can easily be revived. Almost my entire succulent collection contains plants that were rescued from the dumpster. It sounds gross, but only garden stuff is thrown away there. I’ve also scored some plastic pots as well.

I wish I saw this sooner! I saw an aloe at home depot that looked pretty bad. There were two in one pot, bending and breaking the pot and so squished. I wanted to bring it home and nurse it back to health but when I went back for it, it was gone. I figured either someone bought it or the store threw it out.

@@user-ux1fs9mz7u so it’s been a month since repotting it, and honestly, it seemed like my bamboo was shocked for quite some time and it’s barely getting used to the soil. Made me nervous at first honestly. BUT, finally It does look a lot greener, doesn’t require much watering and is so much healthier than before so I do recommend if you are thinking about it. (:

I have had my Bamboo in water for the past 4-5 years and never any issues with it growing or staying green. About 2 times a year I add about 4 ml. of a light fertilizer to the water and then leave it alone. I do let it dry out about every 3 months and not give it any water for about 1 week, a friend gave me this tip and it works awesome. No need for soil at all :-)

I have a lucky bamboo that is almost 6 years old and has been growing in rocks and water and after I transplanted it to a larger pot last year it has not done well and started turning yellow. I took it out of its pot and discovered its roots smelled stinky. I found a video about using hydrogen peroxide in dilution to clean the roots, and it has gotten better, but it keeps getting stinky again. I am cleaning it one more time and after seeing your video I want to try planting it in soil. Poor thing, its been in rocks and water all this time, I look forward to seeing how it does in soil and with some fertilizer. I've never fertilized it.

Good luck to you! Remember to water it with filtered or distilled water once you replant it. It's been in water a long time and will need some time to get use to the soil.

Carmen. Thank u so much for this video. I have a lucky bamboo plant I bought at my local Walgreens store here in Ft Collins CO 15 years ago. Yes u read that right. Lately the leaves began turning light green to yellow. I had it in the original pot it came in. Adding spring water every few days. It has been super healthy for years. I would be so sad if I killed it. So last month I repotted it. Same as before just bigger container. It’s not been happy so I am excited to try your way. Thank u so much. I’d love to share pix with u. Just don’t know how to add a pix to this comment. Kristen Jacobson. Colorado

I had some lucky bamboo that was in desperate need of pruning/propagating. I had it for awhile, so I was nervous, to kill my plant, but went for it. At first, it was fine, but a week or two after propagating it, I struggled with a lot of root rot, and my plants started dying :( (I wouldn't have noticed except for the rotten smell that I noticed one day in my house - I thought it was some rotting potatoes in my pantry, but it turned out to be my bamboo!). Even some of my good stalks started getting root rot and dying. I transferred them to soil to help try to mitigate over-wet roots, and hope that my stalks could be revived - so far so good, it seems. I think they're slowly getting better, which I'm so happy about. I intend to check the roots/soil (and improve the soil conditions) soon, and see if the root system has gotten healthier (they got pretty destroyed in my transfer), but I have noticed leaves have stopped yellowing, and I'm seeing some new growth! So there's my experience with lucky bamboo in soil - it certainly seems pretty happy about it! Good video!

Thanks so much for watching! Remember to fertilize it with a house plant fertilizer. Use a diluted dose and that will help keep it healthy.

I see this was filmed in 2018. Did the bamboo survive and if so, did the leaves return to their proper color? My lucky bamboo is turning yellow while sitting in a tight, water filled pot. Our house is chilly in the winter months and I'm looking for some way to save the plants. Love the video!

I have a twisted lucky bamboo that has been on my desk in my office at work. It is 28 inches tall, 13 stalks tightly wrapped around a perforated cylinder. The base is 7 " tall, 7" in diameter and the bloom is aprox 27 inches across. I don't know how to figure that in diameter. I have had it for at least a year and it has grown quite a bit since I first got it. The leaves have been turning light like the ones in Carmen's plant. I didn't know if I should prune or even how to do that on this plant. The ends of the leaves are also turning brown. I figured it needed re potting so I brought it home. I also thought it might like some fresh air and natural light instead of stuffy office A/C air and artificial light so I put in my screened porch with my Orchids and some other plants. I am in FL so it is also a bit humid out there right now. I went on line to find out what I needed to do and found Carmen. I am so glad I did. Before I began my search I had pulled it from it's original container, which had very little soil in it, so It has been virtually in water all this time. I believed the plant liked water so I was considering setting it up in a water vase. Carmen's video convinced me to go with soil. Makes perfect sense! Hoping I do this right and that my beautiful lucky bamboo is much happier. I am going to keep her at home in rehab for a while to see if she bounces back. I am the brown thumb in my family of gardening grand parents (3 of the 4 were gardeners) and my sister has a horticulture degree and a gardening business! That's ok though because I am a gifted horse and dog trainer :) But I LOVE my plants! I just realized I am on my Son's Google account. That is not my profile, LOL. I am Sherry
