This was awesome and hilarious. When you find out she's going to sing a song you assume she's going to stick with character acting like a cute idol when in work mode, hiding her real face as a jaded cynic of the entertainment industry the rest of the time. You just expect some cute j-pop thing like the opening of lucky star to fit with that, some typical idol type song. And she comes out with freaking Enka! And she isn't even messing around, the seiyuu belts it out with intense passion in such a throaty voice! I almost died the first time I watched it. And she sings it pretty damned well too. I actually liked the Lucky Channel segments even more than the actual show, and this is my favourite one. :)

@@kenshinflyer As I understand it, Ishikawa Sayuri has been the queen of modern enka for decades so I wouldn't be surprised if this song is modelled on her and her music and is practically a direct homage to her. When anyone in japan thinks of female enka they think of her.

And after 23 episodes of Lucky Channel, Akira finally apears in episode 24 among the main cast. Unless you count a cardboard cutout of her that appeared in the middle of the show. I just finished watching the show today and it was a great show. Probably the best alongside Yuyushiki. I wish to see more anime of this genre as my life goes on.

I love this. When I was in japan couple of years ago, I was out in the restaurant with my friend and her friends and we were discussing Japanese songs and they said there was a style of singing with the growls and I told them I had heard it, they were surprised and when I said the name of the song they all blushed. I had never really thought about this song that much but apparently it’s about (or at least the name that’s a term) around 30 year old women (unmarried I think) and that’s about the time they have midlife crisis in Japan and they all fit the description and started blushing and laughing. Idk. I just remembered that fondly :s
