It's a shame to see all of that water get away instead of taking a little time and soaking in a bit. They could drill down vertical shafts, fill them full of spec'd out stone size, in the bed of the wadi so that when the wadi floods like this it'll leave in its wake columns of water that WILL stay and soak in. Bury big rotting logs or wood chips nearby and start rebuilding the soils.
@tourguideashraf2 жыл бұрын
It is really a great recommendation. Thank you so much
@mikeharrington55932 жыл бұрын
Oman does have "recharge dams" constructed in many wadi areas to slow & redirect some flow downwards & outwards into aquifers. You can see the road/bridge infrastructure is very solidly built in Oman. This is unlike many places such as China which, because of endemic corruption, skimps on quality of materials and construction - so its roads & bridges collapse when put to the test.
@tourguideashraf2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeharrington5593 thank you so much for the information. I personally witnessed it in many parts of Oman and they call it Sed if I m right
@lonihollenbeck46542 жыл бұрын
@@mikeharrington5593 Yes, I did notice the bulwarks along the road, but we've got to get that water into the earth to some distance, depending on the soils. I'm doing it here at my farm and I've reduced runoff by some measure. I've added wood chips and such to 'post holes' that I've drilled into the clay soils with great success. Tiling never did shit for this ground and just beat the livin' hell outa me, but these drilled holes filled with compost/woodchips has done wonders. Whatever it takes to increase moisture carrying capacity for the soils.

The construction of this road and the authorities who approved the plans and payed are all wrong. It's obvious that the layed the road inside the river bed, to avoid extra costs building the road 10 meters higher and having to dig the rocky slopes of the mountains. But of course who cares on payment day who will die tomorrow?
