Those who live in Gold Country any former mining bonanza the pickings are very slim today. These live like TRAMPS and if they find a small nugget they immediately spend it on a few shots in a local dive. There is gold still but you will not find it scraping around on the surface as this cartoonish man depicts You need today BACKHOES Giant shaker boxes and Loaders and Lots of Water you shake and wash through tons of soil per hour to maybe find a quarter ounce per ton of 'Rich Soil' most is a half ounce in 20 tons of soil. All these streams have been picked through for 250 years What is largely untouched is deserts and wilderness area's with little to know water. Here people go out with metal detectors and find from time to time small stuff a quarter the size of your pinky nail or less. Another place that there is a lot of Gold is the Ocean no company has perfected underwater sluice boxes yet. as the depths change its settings so one would need an expert to adjust these continually to work not blowing out all content. A third place would be the Arctic and Antarctic and all I think understand which no mining is done in these once a motor stops it will never start until high summer in these places.

Raw gold is actually light But obviously this is fake cuz gold isn’t mined that easily. Out of 50 workers a day under a gram is mined.

Most of the comments are correct.These are painted rocks or other materials Besides the arguments on the tha specific weight of gold and the high frequency of occurrence of the fake nuggets ,the geological environment in which he placed these painted materials is not favourable for gold nuggets.The hostrock appears to be decomposed solid bedrock whereas gold nuggets are formed in gravels and other products of secondary weathering.
