I have been an ardent fan and avid listener of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab for the last 40 years since 1978 when I first came to know him through his divine creations and will remain so till I breathe ! I am now 68 years old ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab is my all time favourite ! Listening to the divine voice of the great Khan Saab during the evening for hours on end on daily basis has been infusing a new lease of life and the will to live in me every day in and day out ! The feeling thereof is divine and can't be expressed in words ! It has raised my spiritual level by several notches up ! I will remain eternally grateful to the great Mehdi Hassan Saab for this peerless gift !

What is so special with the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the fact that he could lend credence to any lafz of the shayar with the exact feel, as depicted in the kalam, owing to his inimitable style of gayiki ! Besides, he had something divine in his voice, which had made him so special ! The great Khan Saab had given ghazal gayiki a pedestal, which will be very difficult to surpass ! The "maqta'aa" of this ghazal is probably the best of all the ideas that could ever be perceived by any poet. I dont think I will come across any other maqta'aa of that level every again in my lifetime. This could have been done only once and Saleem Kausar has done it. the intriguing thing for me is that I feel as if whole ghazal builds up the feelings, and then all culminates in the maqta'aa and then ghazal finishes. I enjoy that every time as if I am listening to it the first time.
