@gasratzs.customs Mark picked up this LS swapped truck a while ago. Now it’s time to do some serious upgrades.
AC/Heat , clean up a bunch of wiring , upgrade the accessory drive with @dirtydingomotorsports , new dash pad.

I've got a 75' 1 ton, 1 owner bought as a cab n chassis and he put a 12 ft box on it, he passed, I got it from the granddaughter with 70,010 miles, just finishing up the factory 350 engine and put some 302 heads that I had worked by Bob Cram in Ridgecrest.. it should RIP but definitely have always wanted vintage air ...

Routing the wires along the heater hose is ok but putting them through the same hole is a mistake. Depending on the amount of clearance and level of vibration they will rub through eventually.

Good point. I generally will leave or even install the factory vent handle for the vents in the kick panel “sends fresh air to the blower”

I've written a bit of a novel here but I've got a work around that might just work for you. This is what I did on my car. Now I will say I am a mechanic so I know a few tricks and hold a R12 recycling ticket for auto air conditioning fwiw (which isn't much these days). Also I was working at an auto AC place doing mechanical repairs one time. I had a Dart and wanted AC in it and they told me exactly what to do and I did it and it worked so well it was amazing. It wasn't that expensive for me to do because they just gave me most of it for nothing and I could pay my own labor lol. It did take a lot of planning and searching for bits an pieces and I installed it over about 6 months in increments because I'm lazy and hate working on my own stuff esp when it's running and my daily driver. What you do is go factory AC evaporator and heater for the low pressure side except the TX valve - it has to be R134 (or equivalent) compatible. Replace the AC thermostat, no if no buts. The alcohol bulbs become unreliable. It has to be new. Replace the heater core. Fix all the old rubber seals on the doors, check all the vac diaphragms. Replace the heater tap. In fact for many cars/trucks you can buy refurbished factory units. In the engine bay you need a new fan clutch and shroud ideally with an AC water pump and pulley (if they were different from stock). Also you might need a factory upgraded AC radiator if you don't already have one, which was usually 3 row. Next, use R134 compatible compressor - so I used stock Mopar RV2 compressor modded with new seals for R134. I drained the old oil out and put a R134 gasket kit through it. That way all the factory brackets, pulleys everything is easily available. Next, a R134 condenser and a condenser fan (very important). The Condenser I used was generic out of a book. I measured up the space and tried a few they had in stock for size. I made brackets for the condenser out of external transmission oil cooler brackets. It was really solid and you couldn't even see it behind the Dart grille. The condenser fan was new and I used the biggest that would fit behind the grill and because R134 condensers are not fragile like R12 condensers I bolted the fan directly to the condenser with large OD washers, some large OD rubberized washers (for a bit of vibration absorption) screws and nylocs. Try as much as possible to use hard lines on the high pressure side - usually the factory lines can be used. If you don't want to, AC suppliers have extensive collections of new off the shelf pre made hardline with bends and everything but yeah I like the factory look. Replace all the low pressure factory rubber hose - get an AC joint to do it (they usually cut the old rubber off the metal section, braze new barbs on and then swage new R134 compatible rubber hoses. Get a new receiver drier with a trinary switch (3 way hi/low/fan). Use 2x relays and on the earth side of the relay and run that through the trinary switch so no current goes through it. I put a 383 in a Dart with power steering and did everything I just told you and the AC worked an absolute treat. It was pretty tight but it all fitted and best of all looked great and just worked - not cool but cold if you wanted it. So if the vehicle you're contemplating doing the job on has factory fresh air, then what I just wrote you will work by making your own hybrid system. Best of all it will look very professional and will perform well. **R134 really works fine on the low pressure side of old R12 systems. Just be sure to flush out the old oil with a solvent in both directions of the evaporator coil and repeat it about 10x. Any residual solvent will boil off when they vac the system out so no need to worry about a few drops of solvent remaining. The problem with R134 is more on the high pressure side but we're upgrading those components that really matter. After the TX valve then it hardly matters because it is low pressure so compatibility is a non issue. Like I said I just followed what my AC specialist employer told me to do and it was far better than I expected. Now I'm telling you.

I was taught that the compressor had to be mounted in a fashion that the lines coming out couldn't face downward otherwise all the oil would run out of it?? I think it even says that in the vintage air instructions?? Hope it doesn't become an issue for you guys.
