That was never how I interpreted the line; I was always heard it as “I had to bet 20 years of my life in this game of chess and lost, so they aged me 20 years instantly.” I don’t think she was actually playing a single game of chess *for* 20 years.

Merle crying at the end is so sweet and sad, and the constant shifts between older and younger Lucretia are done so well (especially when she's holding the flyer, and looking at her younger self after transforming the portrait) my gosh I have a lot of feelings about Lucretia and this is very good!!

I never noticed how the blue letter with the gold rim matches the colour scheme of the journal she fed to the voidfish. It somehow makes it so much worse that Wonderland tortured her psychologically by remind her of how she "betrayed" her family.

[Spoiler Warning] Other cool bit about this: Lucretia is sending them into Wonderland, not necessarily because she felt they were finally prepared for it, but because it was 1 year since the last festival when the Eyes of the Hunger found them. She sent them in because she knew they were running out of time. I wonder how she felt about the ship, and about the idea of flying away when the Hunger finally arrived. I can't imagine she'd like that option 'Hey, I kind of took away your memories and did all this without your permission' It might've been a respite, the idea that she could always go to the next world and see her friends again if the Hunger arrived.

You know, I like Lucretia but I gotta say I was a little bummed/annoyed that the guys didn't grill her/chew her out afterwards for EVERYTHING she had to sacrifice. *spoilers?* I get that the magic of the place was most likely the only thing keeping Cam "the disembodied head" alive by the time the "Tres Horny Boys" found him; but as far as I can recall, it isn't established if his loss of appendages was before or after Lucretia abandoned him in order to escape. Even if it happened before it's possible it could have happened in forms of a smaller penalty that built up over time. Hard to say w/o knowing EVERYTHING about Griffin's wheel but considering Magnus lost only a pinky the first time, it stands to reason that he got hit multiple times. In any case the only reason they survived was because the guys lied to Cam about being sent by Lucretia to attempt to save him and Cam in turn; touched by what he believed were the intentions of their efforts, chose to sacrifice himself so they had a second chance to win the fight. I get that adventuring comes with risks but considering she knew the gravity of the situation with the relics and the havoc they could wreak, she would have taken someone she knew was not only strong but she would take someone she knew she could trust. And yes, I know that the end of that part lead to the finale; but they had a couple moments especially when facing her when they first showed up with one less "Horny Boy" as everyone was breaking down that they could have said something along the lines of "Guess how Cam's doing?". Just a small loose end that always kinda bummed me out in hindsight. =/

​@@alecLogan You're kinda escalating the nature of the questioning by suggesting it needs to be an "attack". It's more like a "parents found out you fucked up but they question you anyways in a disappointing manner because they want the truth" kind of tone that would be done; and furthermore Cam establishes that she abandoned him. He could have just as easily said that she HAD to leave him behind because of the nature of her mission but he didn't. Which most likely means that it wasn't a consensual decision made between the both of them. You could also argue that the negative energy could have changed him over all the time spent there but we don't have that kind of conformation other than negativity being used to sustain the liches alone and Cam being the only "living" example to base that thought bubble off of. Considering how pleasant he was towards the boys given his current circumstances, you can imagine that may not have been the case. It's called a lie of omission on her end and just because mechanically (something Griffin fudged because the story would have otherwise ended there) it benefited the players in the moment, doesn't make it a morally good thing for Lucretia to have done. Or that she even had the foresight to know he would be alive later and that he would sacrifice himself even later than that (which sounds preposterous the more I think about it). What's more, that the sacrifice of someone else's life unknowingly to them for her friends was hers to make in the first place. Cam also made that decision on his own most likely because the boys LIED and COVERED for her saying they were there to save him on HER orders despite not even knowing about the guy before coming to Wonderland since she left that out. Something he even got a little emotional over because he figured he'd been forgotten/written off as dead. A sacrifice isn't an easy choice for a person to make and they can be beautiful in the moment and give meaning and resolve towards a cause. It would have been something that Lucretia would or should have had no shame in bringing up if that were the case. It certainly rallied the boys but imagine giving up your life for a reason/cause you felt meaningful but in truth it was lie; He could have made it about the boys sure but if it was about Lucretia not forgetting him then he would have been sorely mistaken. Yes, in hindsight it helped save the world as the guys could continue on wards and save the "Planar-verse" but that doesn't change the fact that his resolve to make that decision was ultimately for a person that didn't try to save him of her own volition and instead moved onto trying to save EVERYONE which just so happened to eventually send people back in his general direction. Lucretia KNEW the costs Wonderland could force you to make, who knows how many Cam had to make while she was gone. Why not rally with a larger force to try and end the suffering earlier? She knew how dangerous it was then, why wait and spend more time tracking other relics down before even being able to take action towards them when she knew what this one was doing on a regular basis as it was used like a twisted game show? Every moment it continued to exist didn't make it take any fewer lives than it most likely ended up taking given the wide arrange of prizes the twins offered. She even knew the EXACT location and the boys had a number of years in this world before even setting off at level one so it seems like she had the time considering how well established the Bureau was at the point the guys show up in the story. Do not get me wrong, I'm not saying that Lucretia is a trash character or evil and that you can argue that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, especially given the circumstances of the plot. She's almost Batman-esque in her style of decision making on a practical/moral level and that doesn't make her a her inherently bad; and much like Batman, she will do her own thing if she feels strongly enough about what SHOULD be done. HOWEVER it doesn't mean all of her methods and decisions are justified or incapable of effecting others negatively in the process; I.E: Cam, or all of her friends when she basically wiped all of their minds on a decision they all came to an agreement upon taking it solely upon herself to fix the problem when her friends didn't back up her plan. The question I'm posing isn't about whether it was the best decision in the 20/20 hindsight of the already occurred story; it was that: "Was it acceptable to not tell them the costs she had to not only make on a physical level but also make morally in order for her to survive?"; The cost of that ultimately being the life of someone who TRUSTED her and was as described by cam: betrayed, while most likely justified in her own. On a side note, she even worked towards lying and keeping her friends away from Barry and Lup setting up that religious ward to keep away liches knowing Lup and Barry could turn into them upon death. Lup and Barry, who were the closest things the remaining members of the StarBlaster (and in Taako's literal case) could consider FAMILY. She's not above lying to do what she feels is right. So yes, "really".

@@Inn0c3ntGuy Who escalated here? Me Asking two questions, or you responding with 10 paragraphs? Lucretia is an exercise in making sacrifices to try and make things right, and _failing_ . Her actions to attempt to manage things herself go in large part unsuccessful (given the crew was only supposed to be out of it for a short amount of time) and she is fully _aware_ of that. When finally things come to a head, _after_ a hundred or so years running from the enemy and _after_ casting her allies out into the world with no idea who they are or where they have come from, _after_ all that a method comes by suggestion that can resolve one of those things, yes, it is something she can do, has to do. Wonderland was a gamble, and she lost. Why would she actively send anyone to it? For all _she_ knows, Cam died a fair while ago, and even if not, with a pair of lichs working in tandem, things won't go well (and, arguably, went as well as they could have with them tripping into the place) so saving him, taking revenge for him when she has a very different menu of _things that concern her_ to deal with, is wasting time she's already overdrawn. (At this point I should inform, I'm speaking based on spoiler knowledge only, as I have not properly observed things but have seen a fair chunk to tie together). Of course she's not above lying to do what she feels is right, _quite a few people work that way_ . The things about people like that is they carry that weight, hold onto just about anything negative about what they've done that they can, to enforce why they can't take it back, why they have to keep going, why they have to _see this through_ . Bringing Cam up wouldn't keep her reasonable, it would encourage her doing something rash, because at the point where they're bringing Cam up it's too late to have done anything about it anyway. Who's to say she didn't try sending a larger force, that _also_ failed, to the point that Cam in his existence either didn't notice them arriving or _forgot_ ?
