You know, believe it or not, this kind of thing happens way more than you think. Honestly, this scene was one of the many scenes portrayed amazingly- may I add- by Melissa that honestly have made me feel more heard than watching any other show/media/news that I liked ever has. I genuinely love this show both for its storylines and for the representation.

This scene hurt my heart SOOOOO bad… We the viewers were so very proud of Lucy for not only making it but surviving and living to live out her dream! Not just with the career but the love of her life Tim… So for her mom to just come in there and completely and utterly dump on her like that I wanted to jump through the screen and escort her out myself and hug Lucy! That type of job is already tough and support is so vital! But same as Lucy was there for Tim when he had to face his dad I know he will be there for her protecting her from their negative b.s. It was also personal for me as my mom did me the same way. And the only person there for me at the time is gone now… My dad. So I hope her parents get it together. My mom eventually came around but if they can’t support or at least pretend to be happy it’s best to say nothing at all. We love you Lucy!

Well, Jackson figured it out because Lucy acted weird afterwards. Even better, he called out Mrs. Chen, saying she needs to apologize to Lucy if she wants to be welcomed back. And his whole family chipped in to getting her that special necklace like they did for him. Lucy's got a really great support system outside of her family.

You know what's worse. She could die at any moment and the last thing her mom said to her is basically I'm disappointed and embarrassed of you. And what's even more worse is I truly believe that her mom and dad. Would be like "We told her so." After she died. I hope they realize it's not about them. It's about her, before it's too late.

You know there is an amount of emotional ties I have with this scene. First, this is how asian parents talk to their children even when they are grown. The matter of the fact is, if a child strays away from the parents expectations of academic aspirations, there is a patronizing tone towards them. I am asian and I have applied to become a police officer, this is so damaging. Lucy's mom ego and all her years of schooling you would think she would have picked up some mannerisms in speaking with somebody who they took care of and watch grow. I've had the same conversation with my mom, and had to use alot of condescending statements towards her for her to understand. My mom is a person that dismisses constructive and passive statements as uncreditable. That's why I get so invested in this scene, I sympathize and feel Lucy's pain. That as you grow up and strive to be the best person/cop and make a difference in people's lives. You are still seen as a failure...

Tamara: And thank you for helping me leave it all behind. Because if it hadn't been for you, I probably would have ended up like Beca eventually. Lucy: Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore. You're safe. Lucy has proven how inaccurate her parents' views are by choosing to help Tamara instead of throwing the book at the girl for stealing her car.

Also, fast-forward to Season 4, when Lucy and Bradford were assigned to investigate what happened to Tamara's friend Beca. At the end of the episode, Tamara is really shaken by the whole experience, to which she gives Lucy a heartfelt thank you for helping to get her off the streets, knowing that she could have ended up just like her friend if Lucy had just written her off to be a lost cause.

And okay she could have been in the hospital to strike a deal in the 13th episode to but diego was having surgery and last I checked if your only son is having surgery...wouldn't you want to be there to make sure he's okay? Also let's talk about Harper, we already knew she was good mother in season 2, but how many times was that addressed this season? Once? Twice? So let's see: one mother gives her son a bulletproof vest and comes to make sure he's okay for surgery...and the other makes lunch and goes on a camping trip where she hits on a guy...and you want to tell me Harper was the better mother??? Haha alright then.

Lucy is a great cop. She's kind, caring, & looks out for her fellow cops especially if they are her friends. Her parents are such hypocrites. She doesn't need her parents to be proud of her, she needs to be proud of herself. She has John, Tim, & her friends supporting her. If I was right in front of Lucy, I would tell her "You are what you choose to be, not the other way around. You are a good cop, & don't let no one speak any different."

Made her first arrest before getting into the station, survived from being buried alive by a serial killer, was able to handle a strict training officer, and of course, still dealing with the post-traumatic stress from the buried alive situation.

It has nothing to do with her being worried about her safety. She and her husband have opininated prejudice against cops as being individuals who don't care about the mentally unwell, and are paid bullies. While that may be true as we see in the show a few times in other officers, Lucy has used her status as a cop to help people who need it and to arrest the right people.
