She made her career playing Xena: Warrior Princess but Lucy Lawless is not just playing a warrior on TV anymore, she's the real thing. The New Zealand native is a pioneer in portraying female action stars, becoming a mainstay on shows such as Ash vs. Evil Dead, Battlestar Galactica, and Spartacus. These days Lawless is gaining major recognition as a director, making her first film, a documentary, Never Look Away, which is about the legendary camerawoman Margaret Moth, who showed no fear filming in war zones, leading to the near-death experience of having a bullet go through her face. That same fighting spirit makes Lawless the perfect person to tell Moth's story, using great details and footage of her life, and making sure the world knows who Margaret Moth was. I was incredibly grateful to speak with Lucy, about being recognized for things other than Xena, why she felt compelled to make Never Look Away, and how important it is for the truth to be told now more than ever.
