The scene was cut off in the end...she re-enters the room with algae and moss on her because she fell into the pond, and Viv laughs at her. I think Garry Marshall (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley) wrote this script. I think it was his first script for Lucy.

this script is very similar to an episode of Here's Lucy when Lucy and Vivian wanted to both date a captain of a cruise ship.. The actor playing the waiter, played the waiter and other characters in various episodes of The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy..

Yes and she was even older Mame was 1974 - so she would have been 63. I thought that she must have had a stand in doing the rollar skating scene at Macy's since the rollar skating skit was more complicated and faster. Also before Mame she had had the terrible ski accident when one leg was broken in four places. (A skier crashed into her on the slopes)
