Lucy and Ricky remind me of my mom and dad. Whenever my mom did something that caused a mess or made things worse like Lucy did, my dad would come out with the angry Spanish expressions and call her loca. It was so funny, my mom passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving last month and I loved watching this show with her when I was a kid. My dad is still around and is hanging in there but we are all sad. My mom's favorite episode was the one where Ricky dressed as an old man and made his crush Peggy jiggle his legs.

I don't think people think it sounds funny. What makes it funny is that Desi was sooo good at gesticulating that, even though people can't necessarily understand him, they CAN understand him. His Spanish became universal because of the way he delivered it. That's very special, and he made it very funny.

I seriously don't understand why Mexico didn't formally invite Desi Arnaz to host a variety show for them. Mexico has had so many different talents from various countries to be involved in movies for them. Desi could have easily captivated the Mexican audience in the same way Johnny Carson did in the United States. All the Mexican studios had to do was provide people with comedic talent to make it on Desi Arnaz's variety show. Plus he would have been allowed to speak consistently in Spanish. I feel he missed out on making terrific movies in B&W Mexican films. He would have fallen in love with a variety of actresses in those Mexican films. I could see Desi Arnaz alongside Libertad Lamarque or Sylvia Penal etc.
