I've heard Tekking 101 and a couple of other people throw the dark theory out there that the reason we didn't see Arlong in Impel Down is because him and the rest of the Arlong Pirates excluding Hatchan were sent to Mariejois to become slaves for the Celestial Dragons. Imagine when the final war at Mariejois goes down and during all the chaos the slaves all get set free and the one that releases Arlong is Nami. That would be crazy.

Syv, I wanted to point out that the “fire narrative” you mention, is something that’s been growing within the crew itself as well. Luffy with red hawk, Sanji with diable and ifrit jambe, as well as now with Zoro and the king of hell. They’re slowly getting more multicolored flames and I could see more members in the crew get more fire based attacks maybe as a way to truly represent a common theme on the Sun God’s crew

Every pirate aspires to either be joyboy, looks up to joyboy or will look up to joyboy now due to Vegapunks message. That being the case, if Joyboy fought when all the kingdoms were still together (and I’m assuming he fought for the kingdoms) it makes sense that Luffy is the ‘one piece’ that will bring the kingdoms back together. Hence the X on his chest since this is a pirate based anime. I think the ‘one piece’ is either Luffy himself or just a big mirror on the final island. Edit: there’s also a rope passing through Luffy’s pirate flag on the opening of every One piece episode.

It's all about the Final War. And the eventual "One Piece". That's why Mihaek said Luffy has a special power since the beginning. The power to make people his "allies" so easily. This was foreshadowing when Luffy gets One Piece. Obviously it's not treasure. But Luffy bringing joy, peace, and freedom to the world and to all races and to every single person. "Joyboy". Was not Luffy harmed instead by just trying to hurt one of Gorōsei I think the major reason Luffy doing so well is because they are not seriously trying to kill him. I really think saturns reaction to the mother flame was just to show how dark they are. Remember when saturn says its been a long time since hes been to the surface?
