Still one of the best fights in the series. That ending with the rokougan, Luffy not falling down, the flashbacks to Aokiji, Spandam, Lucci, and Robin’s “I want to live” . Luffy put absolutely everything into his last attack which is still one of my favorite finishers. Punching so fast you have multiple punches hitting lucci at the same time. And he keeps going until there is nothing left. And then him calling out to Robin, her tearing up, and him smiling. Peak Fiction!!!!!!!

This was one of the most emotional ends to a fight I ever had watching One Piece. Luffy endured so much pain to defeat the greatest threat to his friends. To go through all that to save Robin was the greatest form of love Robin was given since she was a child.

Ussop talking to Luffy is such a beautiful scene. We come full circle from Ussop leaving the gang because he felt useless compared everyone else on the crew. He then realized his role as a sniper and is now actually angry at Luffy for not being the person he felt inferior to. He realizes that Luffy too cannot do things alone and he needs Ussop’s help to survive the seas ahead. Phenomenal writing!

Yeah this has been a common theme since the Straw Hats came to the Grand Line. Luffy meeting new stronger enemies. Not ones like Buggy, Kuro, Krieg, Arlong where Luffy takes a beating but still stands tall. Crocodile, Enel, Aokiji, Lucci. All enemies Luffy has fought, “lost to them” and was beaten until he gets another go at them (excluding Aokiji)

When I saw that last scene of Luffy vs. Lucci in an awesome amv back in 2011, that's when I told myself: Ok! I've only seen several episodes of One Piece but not that.. FINE!!! I'll watch One Piece! The next day after binging all the way until I got to see the walk at Arlong Park, I called my boss at the time (who's also a One Piece fan) and said: since we're getting laid-off for the winter in 2 weeks, I'm using the rest of my vacation time now so I'm done for the rest of the year. He asked why, and I said, "I'm watching One Piece!" He laughed and said: You're crazy but you got it, man. See you next year and good luck. After I hung up, that's when I yelled: ... WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO WATCH THIS?!!! It took an entire month to watch it all, and when I got caught up, that's when I continued with the manga from that point. Haven't looked back since.

I've always enjoyed the fact that this is the most intimidating luffy will ever be against the big bad enemy of an arc. The pure, silent rage you can see when he gets back up is phenomenal. Never have I seen his face animated so well to show the raw emotion in that scene. Even Lucci is terrified. 22:16

The sword Zoro lost was the one Ipponmatsu (the shopkeeper in Loguetown, will be in the live action) gave him for free. Ipponmatsu wanted to go on an adventure, but thought he was too old to start now, so he gave Zoro his sword so that his dream can come true through his sword. Kinda makes the sword being destroyed sad🥲

Lucci was using Life Return to slim and shrink down his half leopard half human body. That way he could move with more agility and his moves could have more precision. Near the end of this fight he stopped using the Life Return and he got bigger so he could increase the power of his attacks instead of their speed

Lucci uses it to adapt/fine tune his hybrid form: He makes it slimmer and faster, but weaker, or more buffed and stronger, but a bit slower And yes, Zoro lost Yubashiri. He still has Wado Ichimonji (Kuina's sword) and Sandai Kitetsu (the cursed sword)

Chopper use rumble balls to transform him into different kind of forms that help him in the fights. Lucci dont need rumble balls for his tranformation Lucci had full controll about his body. In his super slim form, he is very fast and agile and can doge lots of attacks against Luffy. The speed and flexibility in this form is same as Luffy. But after he saw that gear 2 from Luffy gets weaker after using it to often. Lucci change his strategie and transform him into his full muscle form to demolish Ruffy and end this fight fast. Lucci was visibly annoyed that the fight against Luffy was going on for so long. If Lucci had been more patient and had played for time, Luffy's stamina would have run out at some point. But Lucci wanted to prove to Luffy how inferior he still was to him. Lucci would have won this fight in time for sure. But his blindness and arrogance were ultimately Lucci's downfall. A small note: Lucci wanted to fight Luffy from the beginning. But he had to protect Spandam. And although he followed his superior's orders, he deliberately allowed Chimney to show the Straw Hats the secret path. He could kill the little girl befor that but he is bloodthirsty and seeks for a good fight. If he were just a follower for order of the World Government, Robin would have certainly come to Impel Down and the Straw Hats would not have come to the rescue in time. His talk of justice is an excuse to live out his desire to kill. He embodies a wild animal, always on the lookout for prey. He does not tolerate weaklings in his own ranks, which is why he also eliminates followers. Lucci is a cold-blooded psychopath who uses the power that the world government gave him to live out his desire to kill people. In our world, it would be like a serial killer.

Remember, back in Skypeia, the Reject dial was 10x stronger than Impact dials. Luffy said in ep 308 that Lucci's Six King Gun was about the same power as Reject dial. Now remember how much damage Wiper took from 2 Reject dial shot "Recoil". Well Luffy just took 2 of them, the full impact of the blow, not just the recoil of them.

In the manga, he does not rust anyone's body. Also, some Devil Fruits seem to have limitations to being unable to affect human bodies or can only affect some things. (Certainly not universal, of course.)
