Just to make things clear, there was a huge debate whether Oda ran out of ideas to give a spontaneous twist. After extensive research, the debate concluded Oda is just insane god tier in his own league for world building. This is damn long, and it goes all the way back to early in the series, but I will make it as short as possible in two sections 1. how Nika was conceptualized 2. how gear 5 is fluid af in gear transition. 1. The first silhouette of Luffy as Nika was shown in Maya during Skypia. In real life, Mayan civilization, they call Sun God Ah Kin (If you flip, Nikha). God of Sun in Ancient America symbolizes agricultural prosperity (symbol of Strawhat). But even before Ancient American culture, there are hindi ruins at America. Especially on the Mayan Land of Honduras, the White city of Monkey god Hanuman, who manipulates his body size and ate the sun in the myths. The fake name gum gum fruit was inspired by the Mayan tradition of offering Rubberball for their sacred rituals. Obviously, Nika ability to morph bodysize is Hanuman inspiration as the protagonist name is Monkey D. How do they relate? This is where it gets super serious, and the most accurate theory for the clan D. secrets. In Sanskrit, which is real-life inspiration of Poneglyph, gods REINCARNATE. Hanuman reincarnated as Ah Kin (Nikha). Likewise, Luffy is reincarnation of Joyboy. This is no mere theory because Dragon's character is built the same. Hanuman's father, one of the strongest god and users of wind Vayu, is also reincarnated as an almighty ancient American god of air, the one who transforms into feathered dragon, Quetzalcoatl. This is why Dragon uses wind powers and wears Native American fashion. Oda also confirms Luffy and Dragon are Brazilians. Oda says his inspiration for Luffy came from Goku (Sun Wu Kong). Therefore, Hanuman's cycle of reincarnation is from Joyboy to Luffy in the series. This reincarnation theory becomes more evident by Imu actions after Wano. 2. The way gear 5 works looks random at first, but it's damn smooth logic. Gear 2, 4 were about pumping veins or muscle with external force. But Gear 5 pumps HEART. The extreme heartbeat continuously pumps veins and muscles. Gear 2 or Gear 4 doesn't pump continuously like Nika heartbeat. Even the power of pumping is not even close. Such heartbeat also delivers extreme nutrition Luffy consumes at an incredible rate. The cell gets so energized that even dead cells like hair or clothes revive and emit light. Totally befitting Sun god, since the main function of Sun on earth is giving energy to cells through light. The steam is just body steaming and forming from the heat. Lastly, heartbeat rates also increase adrenaline to explain Luffy's personality change. To be honest, I was on the side of criticism, and then Hanuman and Vayu reincarnation theory dropped like a nuclear bomb. Heart pumping functions also silenced the random looneytoon criticism. All I can say is that Oda is literally alien and conceptualized all these as a teenager. The next arc brings all these theories to whole another dimension. I will explain the backgrounds without spoiling once you reach there. All I can say is that one piece really could be REAL.

My favourite thing is that Kaido becomes so much more of a cartoon character. That's not just gags; Luffy's making him that way.
