@Fallen_Pup yeah but that's kinda literally the whole entire point of Luffy his whole crew has sad stories while he was free as a kid, he then goes on to free everyone of his crew mates from their sad stories the saddest thing I can think of in luffys backstory is sabo dies which he didn't even actually die. Luffy is the captain and the mc cuz he is the only one of the crew who doesn't have such a tragic backstory as cringe as it sounds to say he is the smile turning frowns upside down not just another sad character that's like his main personality trait he smiles and is always goofy and happy
