Mystic Quest was a mediocre game with a soundtrack that can only be described as legendary. Shame Sasai only did a few games.

imho I always thought old FF games (except VI) paled in comparison to other jrpg games released for the same consoles, like dragon quest and lufia, be it in terms of gameplay, soundtrack or overall enjoyment. I never played mystic quest though and I'm quite curious now

As a kid, 0:43 - 0:54 always gave me goosebumps, especially when using powerful magic like thunder or vulcan to finish off the boss. It was just epic.

Not many snes percussion tracks get up to the MegaMan 2 nes level but this soundtrack has always been heavily underappreciated.... It should have become as iconic as the osts from many peers... Can't help but feel like the overall franchise mismanagement and ultimate failure are a big part of the reason. And they started out so strongly, a great game and better sequel, only to falter instead of charge ahead.

drain? you mean boost. lol. like every boss starting with that wizard ontop of that tower would cast AoE spells every single turn which forced you to devote one of your casters to spamming Boost.

@@Dhalin The Dark Ghost's tier 2 water magic was pretty bad to deal with, too. Granted, I don't think it would be feasible to have Boost by then, considering how far you still have to go from there to even get the ship.

For some reason, this theme really hit me as a kid when you fight Gades in Sharan. For a while I used to think it was his theme until I realized it was for most boss battles. That heavy base is what I love most about it. Horns, base guitar, and cymbals clashing.
