Nice trip report. Munich Airport satellite gates can be very busy during the peak departure waves when there is a lot of connecting passengers so I'd guess your flight departed out with one of these waves if it was so quiet. LH have a monopoly on the MUC-ARN route... their only competition is a twice weekly Norwegian flight so they probably don't try very hard to excel in terms of their business class offering. I'm of the same opinion as you- if the €120 price difference only really gets you a meal on board, I'd fly economy and treat myself to a meal in a nice restaurant at my destination.

If you can get a cheap upgrade yes. Lounge access and preboarding is nice. Their food is .. very mid or even outright bad sometimes (Austrian is categories better on that.. it's day vs night) Talking about long haul flights: If you can fly on their 787,A350-Sprinter (ex Phillippine Airlines) or an Allegris A350.. yes if not: no the old Lufthansa Business is def better than any Economy or preium Eco... but definitely not worth sticker price

Agreed I do like Austrian in comparison, I will be trying out the long haul products at some point, I want to give them a fair go across a range of what they offer
