Something they should consider is hiring a person who can whatsapp clients images/videos of their animals every 6 hours or so. They could charge an addition 10 euros for their duration of their stay for this service.

if you book pet premium (I think that's what it's called), you'll get an exclusive email address which Lufthansa staff will use to keep you up to date during the entire shipping process :)

I flew with my dog to the USA couple years ago with Lufthansa.. he had the best treatment ever.. even in the plane they came asking us what temperature he was used too !!!.... on and off the plane, as we had a stopover in Frankfurt (we flew from Amsterdam), a special car came to pick him up.. for him alone.. we could see this through the glass.. sooo 10 stars for Lufthansa.. I used the Sky Vari Kennel as he had to fly in the cargo hold, i understood this is the only carrier approved for almost all airlines so be careful what you buy, not all brands that tell you they are approved are allowed. He was so relaxed when we saw him back in Boston.

I am flying to Canada from middle east. Right now we're at the Frankfurt airport transit area. It has been more than 12 hours since we landed and we haven't heard from my cat since then. There is no one working here after 10pm so it is hard to find someone to talk to. We went to the service center to ask and get information and the lady was pretty understanding and she called a couple of places to ask about our cat and to see how he's doing. They said they didn't have any information about the cat but the cat was checked in the lounge. And i think they would have informed us if something bad happened. The lady said the pets were given the best care so we didn't have anything to worry about. I want to think my baby is doing fine even though he has anxiety and hates his carrier and hates going outside. He is stressful by nature and not a social cat. I have been taking anxiety pills to help me feel relaxed but i am deeply concerned about him. We still have to wait for 5 hours and our flight to toronto will last for 10 hours. So that's 15 hours more. I am gonna ask if he is on board before we get in to our plane and ask if he is okay. After we land in toronto I am gonna edit this comment and tell more about how the situation went and give a little bit of information about our transportation documents. I pray to god and hope all goes well. Edit 1: 2 hours left for my plane to toronto. We have talked with four different places and no one gave us any information about our cat. We still don't know how he is doing. They say they don't have the telephone number to the animal lounge? What kind of nonsense is that? Edit2: we landed in toronto and got the carrier from the 'special luggage' place. he seemed so stressed. we passed a place where they checked our documents about the cat. It has been a week. we're in our new home and he is kind of getting used to it but not eating a lot he has lost weight. Edit 3: It has been 3 months guys and our cat is in great condition. He got used to the new house. The recovery from the trauma did not take that long too! My cat was a really anxious one and if he overcame it I believe yours also can. It gets so stressful I understand that better than anyone, I couldn't sleep for months thinking how we'll put him on a plane but we did it and he's with us and he is happy 💖

I’m also planning to fly with my dog in a couple of years by Lufthansa because I will move from Japan to Germany. But I’m worried about my dog... she’s around 9 kg so I am not allowed to bring her in the Cabin. But I don’t let her fly in a cargo alone. Does anyone think that Lufthansa or other airlines will make the rule/regulation of pets change in a few years such as that it will be allowed up to 10 kg with a box or so. I thought it because we weren’t allowed to fly with pets a couple of years ago and now we can! So hopefully they’ll accept heavier pets in Cabin soon too... It’s pretty weird that every airline has their own rule/regulation for the weight of pets. Germany is a pet-friendly-country, so finger crossed!!!!

I can see this is from 2016. Does this Frankfurt Animal Lounge still exist? My question: Is animal considered to be In transit in EU by being in this lounge, or it it considered to fully enter EU? I have traveled with my dog from Serbia to Canada, being only in transit in EU/layover of couple of hours in Amsterdam I believe. My dog was with me in the cabin, and we did not have to meet EU requirements/there is one extra anybody test for EU. We had to have only rabies vaccine that was required to enter Canada. Anyone has any information on this? Thanks

Germans take pride and dedication for what they do, but sadly soon lufthansa will retire their macdonell Douglas md 11 aircraft fleet which was the best in transporting goods around the world including Animals. Boeing 777F cargo freighter will take over the job. I can travel with lufthansa any given day.

My dog has severe anxiety and should be with me in cabin, but because she, and her bag is ONLY 3 pounds overweight she cant fly in cabin... So I decided to do cargo, but now its closed so I don’t know what to do... I’m moving and Lufthansa wont make an exception, even if I pay extra because of everything.. I can am positive that my flights wont be full due to COVID so if a 200 pound man can fly, my 3 pound over wight dog should be able to as well... Anyone have any suggestions? Because I’m frustrated at Lufthansa now... :(

I would go with my dogs if allowed, I would pay two extra seats to have them with me. Dog parents are a niche audience that the airway companies should exploit better.

Hello, I am wondering if your dog travelled and transited Frankfurt successfully? Would you please confirm if you booked your dog as excess baggage on the LH flight or if you went through an animal travel company? I have some questions about checking in at the LH desk at the airport with my dog who would be flying from South Africa via Frankfurt to Montreal, Canada. For susanorohha who asked about the answer to your original posted question: As of 2022 Germany requires that even pets transiting and NOT clearing customs must meet the same requirements as those dogs entering the EU. The LH website states that this EU entry paperwork for dogs transiting through is checked randomly. I travel from Canada to South Africa RETURN and because South Africa is listed as a high rabies country I had a rabies titre performed on him shortly after arriving in SA in November 2023. Three important requirements are: 1) your dog must have had a microchip implanted PRIOR to the administration of the rabies vaccination date on your rabies certificate (2) that the titre be performed at a qualified laboratory (they have a list of which labs in each country are qualified); (3) the date of blood collection for the rabies titre be performed NO EARLIER than 30 days from the last Rabies vaccination; (4) the dog MUST stay in the country from where it originates for 3 months after the blood collection date.

Dude those animals look scared.
@Kevinegan15 жыл бұрын
They are scared. They are animals and they do not understand what is happening to them. Dogs don't understand that their owners will be with them again soon. It is a hell of a good thing Lufthansa is doing by lessening the stress levels in these animals, of which for many, is their first time to fly. Having a person, "on the inside" to personally look after people's animal family members lessens the anxiety of the animal owners as well. I wish the US carriers would adopt this level of concern for animals in their care. Watching some jack-ass throwing your luggage around on the tarmac because they just don't give a sh*t has left me with the decision to never allow American carriers anywhere near my dogs. They stand around like the morons that they are, angry because people are having their pets designated Service Animals in order to keep them in the cabin rather than with some baggage buffoon. As a teenager, I briefly worked at a US International airport as a baggage handler. I received Zero training and watched baggage handlers throw people's luggage around like it's sacks of garbage. It has not changed much in the US over the last 40 years. Try doing a search of nations that pets are treated the best. The US doesn't even make the list.
