The 747's design will never be forgotten.It is the most recognisable jet in aviation history.A true masterpiece of engineering and evolution.It really changed the whole world of air transportation.These close up shots on both birds show the special characteristics of the 747 in the older 744 version and also in the newer 747-8.Too bad that the new model didn't have the same popularity like the previous one especially in passenger version.Amazing video Jay.

These shots were taken in the afternoon time-frame... lots of heavy jets leave the U.S. airports in the afternoon and evening hours in order to arrive in Europe the next morning.

Gonna miss the B747's ... NOt alot of airlines use them anymore. Soon it will only be Lufthansa and British airways ... On what routes does United use their 747's these days - Anyone knows ?

Thanks for watching... United uses their 747s mostly on routes like to Shanghai Pudong, Beijing, Taiwan, Incheon, Hong Kong and Tokyo Narita from Chicago and San Francisco.

SWEET!!! let me run down the ones I use... pretty simple actually. No tripod, no special add-ons. I use, intelligent auto SCN, AVC HD 28M (PS) 1920x1080(60p), still image size of 16:9 (15M level), face detection auto, Movie Steadyshot ACT (active), all those seem to work the best. Use the menu button to set it up

Why is it that Delta and United are both finding that there is no future for the 747 with them? Isn't there a way to use the newest version profitably somewhere on their routes?

mrtodd3620 Think about it like this; the 777 series overcoming the range of the 747, A350WXB overcoming the range, 787, and 77X coming, there's really no use of the 747 anymore. It's just a plane that really can't keep up unfortunately

Much as I would love the 747 to stick around.... there really isn't a lot of work for it to do now except shuttle massive amounts of people between hubs,... which it still does in Japan on some level. It burns so much fuel going on the long international routes compared to the twins that it doesn't make sense to keep running it. Even though it does carry more people, airlines find that they can give people more options by having two flights to a international location instead of one.
