I mean... if I remember right, a hawk's vision is meant to track moving prey. Specifically, the distance between them and moving prey.

@@ShadowdaHedgie11 That's basically _all_ predators that now use their eyesight for stuff in the first place, and the immediate reason for why you can pretty well estimate an animals trophic level by how its eyes are positioned on the head. Forward-facing for proper stereoscopic rangefinding at the expense of peripheral vision? Ya that's a predator. (Or tree-climber cuz misjudging the distance between branches is... unhealthy.) Out on the sides for maximal peripheral vision at the expense of forward resolution? Prey. Taken Up To Eleven in many birds of prey that can't actually move their eyes in their sockets and have duly evolved the ability to rotate their heads to unusual degrees. This goes for both the day and night varieties for different reasons - hawks, falcons and eagles have elongated eyeballs that operate as biological telescopes and give them their proverbial long-distance vision while owls just have _very big_ eyes for maximum light-gathering for night-vision purposes (deep-sea critters tend to have disproportionately large eyes for much the same reason, in some case necessitating the development of internal rings of bone for structural support).
