Luigi Busà🇮🇹 Luigi is 2-1 against Rafael in World Championships, 2-0 in olympic games, and 2-4 in European championships. These events are the most prestigeous competitions in WKF, which means the competitors were at their best in these particular occasions. As you can see, Luigi gets the edge by just one match. A close one, but still a winning record for Luigi!

@@SMM1976 best is for who performs better. That's Luigi in my eyes. Greatest is the one who accomplished more. To be fair, Luigi accomplished becoming the olympic champion in the first and only edition of karate in the olympics. But Rafael has more World and European titles to his credit. Best and Greatest are 2 different things and this is how I interpret them. Prime for prime I'd bet on Luigi. Career-wise I wouldn't be mad picking Rafael.

@@jacopo.dainotto The day that Busa won the Gold in Tokyo, the few public that attended chanted Aghayev's name. What I am trying to say with this is that Rafael Aghayev is the best of all time, nobody has his palamares, he has marked an era and his way of competing was something totally innovative setting trends. Nobody has so many World and European titles at the same time, in addition to the Olympic silver, and his way of competing... lifts the spectator from his seat, Luigi has not achieved that in the same way. They are not comparable!, being Luigi a great competitor.

@@SMM1976 the Budokan was empty, you know that, right? It was the AZE team that was chanting to support Rafael while he was crying and running from Luigi. You're free to interpret the word "best" the way you want. But some of the things you pointed out have a different meaning to me. Try to read my last comment again, I said the same about his resumé. My point is that he's not the best karateka out there anymore. The rankings favour Abdalla Abdelaziz, but the rankings don't quite tell the whole story. For me the best is Luigi.

Aghayev is way better. I think overall score between them is 11-4. Unfortunately, he lost in olympic games with minimal score
