Roberto Bertero at the organ of Turin’s Santuario della Consolata (Church of the Virgin of the Consolation).
In this video I am playing a small pearl, an oasis of refined meditation, a Cantabile composed by one of the most eminent Italian organists ever: Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini.
The piece presents influences from the compositional style of Marcel Dupré, who was his teacher at the Paris Conservatory.
M° Tagliavini held many teaching positions in prestigious Italian conservatories before moving to Friborg (Switzerland) where in 1971 he became professor and director of the University’s Institute of Musicology.
He was also guest professor at various US universities, as well as an active concert organist in Italy and abroad.
Titular organist of the organs of the Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna. He has taught also at the summer courses in Haarlem and at the courses at the Academy of Organ Music in Pistoia.
With Marie-Claire Alain, Anton Heiller and Gustav Leonhardt he definitely contributed to the rediscovery and affirmation of baroque harpsichord and organ performance practice.
A fundamental point of reference in Italian organ building, some of the restorations he led constitute an authentic watershed in the national organ panorama.
Owner of an almost unique collection of musical instruments, which includes around 70 antique elements, like harpsichords, clavichords, spinets, pianos, organs, ranging from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. Heritage collected and exhibited at the San Colombano Museum in Bologna.
Welcome to this KZbin channel aimed at providing some quality online documentation concerning the "Camillo Guglielmo Bianchi" organ located in the Consolata Sanctuary, Turin (Italy).
Audio or audio-video file will be regularly uploaded, all recorded LIVE.
The sound will be captured with Zoom H5 audio recorder (96kHz / 24bit), while footage will be filmed with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.
The intent is to create a database of the musical literature performed by me, titular organist in this prestigious sanctuary, right during the religious services along the Liturgical Year or during the organ auditions, between one Mass and another.
