Dark Moon was still a good game, but it definitely pales in comparison to the other two. I still can’t decide whether 1 or 3 is better. 1 has a better atmosphere, but maybe that’s just nostalgia. 3 has more obvious flaws, but I don’t know if they are enough to make it worse than 1. 3 just had so many awesome ideas.

@@WideMouth I don't hate Dark Moon, in fact I still like the game for what it is, but I say it's easily the worst of the three Luigi's Mansion games. 1 & 3 are just so much better. It's that damn mission based structure that ruins the overall pacing of Dark Moon, with E-Gadd constantly stopping your progression by booting you out of the mansions *25 times* throughout the whole game. On top of Dark Moon having other issues like E-Gadd calling you every 5 seconds throughout the game & Dark Moon having alot of lacklustered boss fights. I'm really happy to see LM3 fixed all of those issues I had with Dark Moon.

@Isaiah Adams I just think that with this type of game, atmosphere is the most important element. Luigi’s Mansion 1 just has such an effective and consistent atmosphere throughout the whole game. The reason I’m conflicted is because, as you said, Luigi’s Mansion 3 did so many things better gameplay-wise. Although, I do prefer the combat of LM1.

I really don't think this game has reached that status. I enjoyed the game, but it has some faults and that's where I kind of feel it drops in terms of being GOTY material. Definitely fun to play with family and the game is very pretty.

Idk about GotY but it should have more than 1 nomination. So should Fire Emblem 3 houses and Astral Chain. I haven’t played DMC5 but the consensus is that it got snubbed too. All 3 had higher review scores than Control and DS from most of the same journalists that are on the jury yet they aren’t in the GotY category. When BOTW had 5 or 6 nominations it had a review score of I think 93 and DS gets 10 nominations with an average score of 83/84. If DS wins GotY and/or more than 5 categories it will be a disgrace and the show will lose credibility.

This is, by far, the best switch game I played! Mario Odyssey didn’t do it for me, Link’s awakening was awesome but I still remebered the original so I finished it in no time and however Luigi is quite a short game, it were the best 13 hours I’ve spent on my switch. Currently playing Dragon Quest XI....

Kinda unfortunate that it took only 15 hours to 100% I don't know why but this game while it is amazing, it just doesn't have the replayability that Luigi's Mansion 1 had

Maybe because it is not has short factually 3 has more to do and more to look for and an online mode so you do have alot to go back to. While in the original the only reason to go back is the hidden mansion so for cases like this it is not that it is less replayble just that it is longer while you can beat the original in a couple hours so it comes down to how much you like the game. Because factually 3 is more replayble but when it comes to games it depends on how much you like it. So this just means you like the original more than 3.
