Luigi's Mansion: All Portrait Ghosts & Luigi's New Mansion Ranks

Let's Play Luigi's Mansion has recently ended, so now it's time to share some bonus content, yay! In this video/slideshow I have all 23 portrait ghosts shown with all their different frames and poses that you can get depending on your performance in the game. Afterward, I also show all the different "New" Mansions that Luigi can earn depending on his treasure total. Rank H, believe it or not, is actually the hardest to acquire because the player literally must avoid almost all coins and treasures inside the mansion. Hope you guys enjoy!

It's interesting that the most visually appealing painting isn't always the gold rank painting. In many cases it definitely is, but there are some where I looked at it and thought, "I would really rather look at the bronze/silver version than the gold one."

Of the 23 Portrait Ghosts, I like Bronze best on 4 and Silver best on 6 myself. Of course, I would love a room with 23 different Melody Piannisima portraits. She looks good in all 3 frames. XD

I disagree. I think that they are better because at least then, they are usually happy or happier. Also, it seems like Bogmire wants to be gone, as his best one is just a shadow, his silver is half formed having sinking back into the ground, and the last is a dark purple with him exposed. ANd most Silver and bronze are distorted (Nana goes from phsycedelic, to normal angry, to a brown photo look.) It just has all the ghosts enjoying themselves more.

Yes, it is. The H Rank is arguably harder to achieve than the "best" A Rank itself. It's because you have to deliberately go out of your way to not collect any treasures; it's tough.

the European version to get an a rank you have to play the hidden mansion, the hidden mansion in the European version has darker rooms and is reversed.

All ghosts and hazards deal twice as much as damage, Luigi's Poltergust is half stronger, there are more ghosts, some boss battle mechanics are altered (Chauncey's rocking horses are much larger and swing left and right, the Poltergust can be ridden against Boolossus) and all gold mice and speedy spirits give a diamond.

Just beat Luigi's Mansion 1000% Clear. (1000 = both modes beaten with best endings, pal and nstc copies were physical copies, all ghosts gold framed, and all golden mice and blue ghosts captured. FTW THIS GAME SCARED THE LIVING CRAP OUTTA ME AS A 7 YR OLD!!

A gold painting would be given to the player if the player catches the ghost in one go. So, if you're trying to vacuum let's say Slim Bankshot, you have to get him from 100 hp to 0 without losing him once. However the game counts it as fair if you just get them down to around ten. An easy way to tell if you got a gold painting on a ghost is by the amount of pearls they drop. In a gold worthy battle, you should collect four small pearls, four medium pearls and one big pearl. If you did not get the big pearl and four medium pearls from a ghost, then you got silver or bronze. Boss ghosts work differently though. You don't need to get them all in one go to achieve gold ranks on them (as that would be extremely challenging for both King Boo and Boolossus) I think there's actually two factors that determine what rank you get for boss ghosts, and those are times taken to vacuum ghost and amount of health lost during battle. I replayed the game the other day, and it took me four or five times to get Chauncey, but I only lost three health, so it still gave me gold. I'm sure if I would have lost like 10 more health, it probably would have given me silver instead.

Actually for the Whirlwinds, What I do is that you get close to them with the flashlight pointing away from them so they think that the Lights are pointing at the better dancer so they try harder making them exposing themself. I don't know if this is the official version but hey its faster so you speedrunners can do it fast??? Please tag me when using the cheat or link me in the description

You get a gold frame if you deal 90 damage in one stream of wind--if you get a big pearl, you're guaranteed a gold frame. In boss battles, you get a gold frame if you take no more than 10 damage throughout the whole fight.

All right if H Rank is so hard, then try getting it, then try getting an A Rank in the normal mansion of the PAL version. You won't I gaurentee it. Its impossible to collect 150,000,001 or more in the normal mansion, and tats the PAL requirement. SO ha, the A Rank id harder(In the PAL normal mansion, where its impossible)

The Fuzzy Ocelot I have. It’s WAY easier in the hidden mansion due to the increased power you have. I have yet to get it on the normal mansion, but that is nearly impossible without blind luck

Actually, the blue soldier is the only one that counts towards the rank you get, same with the red twin who rides the plane. If you want a guaranteed gold painting on the Clockwork Soldiers, vacuum the green and pink soldiers first. You can take as many hits as you want, with no consequence (except loss of health of course). The blue soldier is the one who drops the pearls. Fun fact: it's actually the pearls that determine what rank painting you get. I tested it once by sucking up a ghost in one go 100 to capture without letting them go. This drops four small pearls, four medium pearls, and one large pearl. That amount of pearls signifies that you have earned a gold painting on that ghost. But, instead of picking up the pearls, I just walked away and let them despawn. Later when I was on the results screen, the ghost that I specifically recalled catching flawlessly, appeared as a bronze painting. So, never go for the blue soldier or red plane first
