@Thomas Irwin Darkrai's roles in the Pokemon universe is very ambiguous. And I think it is mostly due to his powers which he can't always control (it is said that this is mostly a defense mechanism when startled or something. It is also implied in the case of the ghost of the girl in PKMN Black and White, who met Darkrai, but never woke up from her nightmare). Sometimes, he is on the good side (Rise of Darkrai, Pokémon Rangers) but has antagonistic roles as well (such as the PKMN Mystery Dungeon evil mastermind) Or a bit of both (As in Pokepark)

I must say, I love how this was composed, how you get the feeling of terror and weakness from him like an awful dream. And then you have some parts where it makes you feel like you are being watched. But then you feel that nice harmony near the end in that one bit that shows you he isn’t a monster. I also like the chimes that play that act sort of how he isn’t just a figure of absolute horror. That it actually shows that he don’t mean to be the bad guy like it says in his Pokédex entry.

To add to that, I’d personally try to add more soothing Melody’s into this theme. Like half dream but in the background of the soothing dream music you hear some darkness like you are being followed but don’t know it.

Mystery Dungeon Darkrai is evil, no question Movie Darkrai however was a good Pokemon that didn’t want to hurt anyone, and almost completely died trying to prevent Dialga and Palkia from destroying the thing it loved, being the garden.

I was listening for the nth time today and thought of the best idea. Why doesn't Luigigigas remix "Oracion"? It's the wonderful theme from the Darkrai movie. It's already incredible, but with some Luigigigas-magic sprinkled on top... I can only salivate at what it can become.

This may be your most genius piece yet, the eerie atmosphere it creates while still keeping up a certain orchestral epicness makes for one hell of a unique track. You arrive in Canalave city, it seems darker and eerier than usual, all the lights are out but you can see a slight glow coming from one house. You decide to knock on the door, an old man opens the door. His eyes are black, the more you look into his eyes, the more you get dizzier and eventually you faint. You wake up all alone in a dark forest, and you see this almost humanoid dark figure in front of you, all of your pokeballs are gone except one, your starter. The dark being gets closer and closer as you try to grab your pokeball to fight. He reaches out for you when you finally send out your starter. The dark figure lights up, you've never seen something so scary, blood coming out of it's mouth, a dark substance dripping from his body. You try to fight but you can't win, he's to strong. Not even Arceus can save you now. You are stuck in your worst nightmare.

You approach the creature with a sense of immense dread coming over you as you inch ever closer. It speaks in a low tone telling you to wake up since it means no harm. Just like the real Regigigas, Luigigigas rests for a thousand years, only to come out with an absolute banger every time he awakens! (Also this would fit great for your confrontation/battle with Darkrai in PMD2. I always much preferred the Evil Darkrai we see in Pokemon Diamond and in Mystery Dungeon, never did like his movie counterpart.)

Why? That evil Darkrai doesn't even match with what Darkrai is, the lord of nightmares, nor what nightmares are. It feels like they made him the villain because he looks villainous.

@@andresmarrero8666 He is literally the embodiment of *nightmares* . As in one who produces sudden quantities of fear, anxiety, stress, etc in a person. And since nightmares are illusions caused by the brain it makes sense that he would be able to cause said illusions. Also in explorers of sky it was for a biological reason, something about how in the paralysed timeline his power was supreme, as said world gave him plenty of energy to feed on. Probably why you dont see Darkrai in the future, he could probably clap the shit out of primal dialga.

@@socialaccount0000 there is more to nightmares than that. Such as how nightmares and dreams and one and the same. People personify different aspects as two opposing forces when they are actually the same. Specifically with nightmares, they are warnings, telling you to stay away. Thus depending on the person, the nightmares can also be interpreted as messages. However they are no mere illusions, especially when you are talking about the dream world and "dreams" in particular. That is the equivalent of saying emotions are just chemicals in the brain which is only partly true. The Darkrai in mystery dungeon is odd because he wasn't acting in accordance to nightmares but instead of a typical, maniacal villain. Darkrai isn't the kind of entity to want eternal darkness. It doesn't make much sense.
