Hi Luis - How did you keep the shadow area in the neck / transition to the cheek so transparent? What pigments in the neck shadow area/ was there any lead white in the mix? I assume it was very sparing and still allowed the ground to show through while you used much more of it for increased opacity in the cheek. Love your paintings and exploration of techniques.

Thanks for the feedback Ron! The pallet used by painters from the 17th century is very beautiful. You can achieve astounding neutral tones.

Lovely demonstration!!! The book you referred is available in several places, but it is extremely expensive. Cheapest used copy I found cost above US$ 300,00 compared to Amazon´s US$ 558,08. That is bad news iindeed. Where can I find the source photo? I would love to give it a try- Thank you.

can you tell us about pentimenti? sometimes the changes in the painting must be very difficult, thank you!
@LuisBorreroVisualArtist
@LuisBorreroVisualArtist 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Maximos: Pentimento can be extremely difficult when working wet into wet. Venetian painters opted to work their paintings in multi layers making the necessary compositional changes as they worked without the aid of a cartoon or preparatory drawing. Check out this unfinished painting by Tintoretto to get an idea of his process👉🏻www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/437819. Thank you for following the channel.
