This is why i love youtube. So many musical gems and brilliant talented artists of the past who get little or no radio-play can be enjoyed by the many of us who crave real talent and artistry. Excellent.

Before my grandpa passed away he discovered KZbin. He told me how much he loved being able to jam out to his oldies in his living room❤️ he said, “can you believe I just saw Elvis and The Beatles on my screen, those younglings”☺️

You know you’re about to see something special when Sonny boy Williamson, one of the best harmonica players ever, introduces someone.

You might be cool but you'll never be as cool as Sonny Boy Willliamson doing that intro.😎

This is downright surreal. The intro, the phantom vocal start, his playing, the camera cutting to the band, his abrupt finish, the all white audience in formal attire, the thank yous... I am baffled in the best possible way.

54 years old and still blown away by how much American music is rooted in songs by poor Black folk about just trying to survive. Yet, at the same time, the songs speak to a universal human experience.

Lonnie paved the way for folks like BB King and Muddy Waters. Such a natural talent at both vocals and guitar. Makes it look so effortless.

I'm impressed by the quality of the footage. Those are the wrinkles of a man who been hurt and has become wiser for it.

Probably the most underrepresented father of modern guitar playing ever. He played jazz in the early 30s. He played with Eddie Lang and Joe Vanute. He played with Louis Armstrong.

I must join the rows, appreciating the looking at a performance of this true god father of modern blues. Been listening to it for years, now there's more than the sleeve of a LP record..
