My favorite Beethoven song. People are upset that he used it for the music, but haven't you ever listened to an instrumental work and thought, "wow, this could be great with lyrics" or automatically thought up some lyrics to go with the music? It's not like Moonlight Sonata is the main part of the song, and it is altered some. But honestly, this was a good choice of music, and it fitted well with the way the song was sung...

Lukas made this song for his friend serving hard time in jail. Pretty deep but gets even deeper. Just moments before Lukas went on stage live in 2012 he learned that his friend got shot down not knowing if he would survive or not. Worst feeling ever as he decribes besides when his father suddenly died at 61 (which he by the way mention in 7 years)
@TheStigc1238 жыл бұрын
+Graham R Ferguson ..No your wrong he never even had a Brother.!!!! Only 2 sisters - Niamh Anna Forchhammer and Ella Kathleen (both alive and well) I know that a local newspaper at some point back i 2012 mentioned that he wrote about his Brother being in jail but that was not the truth. It was and still is about his friend ......try to Google it :-)

+Clint Flicker ...Your right. Lukas is actually in prison for life writing all his stuff from his cold and tiny cell. So tiny that they had to cut his piano in half just to get it in. And it's only due to the accustic inside the prison yard why his voice comes out that good....otherwise his just a poor to an average singer....a well preserved secret - so don't mention this to anyone...!!
@chrism66518 жыл бұрын
+Clint Flicker actually, +stig Christensen is completely correct. In an interview for this song, Lukas talks about its origin and how he made it for his friend who got shot and died. It's in Danish, though.

This song means a lot to me. My cousin and I grew up together till my mom moved me away to OR. She said the gangs would get me if we stayed in CA. They got my Cousin. He is in jail for murder. I know him. I love him. I cant change what he did... what it doesnt change is the love I have for him. The letters are part of me they always will be. My cousin is the one that told me to do better then the gangs. I have finished college and will be getting married. He did that.... he is a good man. Your song has gotten me through the trial and the fact that I wont see him again in this life. Thank you Lukas Graham band.

I got the letter back Saying I can come and see you I really don't have time But promised that I'd come and see you You're sitting far away But do you know I sometimes need you I know that you deserve The time you got of all the people I know you never bent Even in the strongest wind I really wished to every God That you were innocent I'm happy and I'm proud That I can still call you my friend I hope you read the letters And the magazines I send You got your head up But I don't have my hopes high I know that you're a good man And that's what, brings a tear to my eye I'm like, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better than yourself 🎵🎶🎵🎶 I was sixteen And we used to roll together You told me back then That I was meant for something better You know in our life Nothing's gonna change but the weather It seems it's been forever Since we really stuck together I'm living a crazy life I wish that you could see it too See a thousand people sing My song from me to you Every time I sing it You know I'm bleeding too Man I accept you as you are No I don't need the truth I got my head up But I ain't got my hopes high See I know that you're a good man And it brings a tear to my eye I'm like, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better but yourself 🎵🎶🎵🎶 I reminisce to back then, when it was you and I Smoking big fat blunts, drive in movie night They tried to get you down, but you refused to die They tried to give you angel wings, but you refused to fly You'd rather stay in hell, and take your time in jail They're only punishing a soul that you will never sell We both know that we owe nothing to each other But can you blame me, for loving and missing my brother Oh, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better than yourself

I'm not saying this for attention or whatever, it's just the truth. When my mom told me my brother was in jail I started crying and listening to this song made me feel understood, I never thought someone could. Now I miss him more than everything and when I feel like give up (it was always my brother to give me strength to fight) or I miss my brother too much I just listen to them and it really helps. I'm so thankful, I don't think they realise how much their music can mean to someone, how much they're helping us. I appreciate you guys so much, wish you could know cause you deserve the best. I know this song is about Lukas' friend, but it really reminds me of my older sister who struggles with multiple mental disorders and has been in and out of the hospital for several months- she's only sixteen, but got mixed up in drugs last year and as cliche as it is, made friends with the wrong crowd. She attempted suicide for the first time around September of last year and was sent to the hospital, and it's just been an emotional roller coaster.. The hardest thing is just that she doesn't want to help herself, like she craves trouble. That's why this song hits me so hard. It's crazy how Lukas can take an experience of his own and formulate the lyrics in a way that everyone can feel on a personal level. He and his group are phenomenal musicians and I adore their songs-

+Olivia Rogowski ... Hello from Denmark ... Some people are too self-destructive to be able to help themselves, for their own sake, but they may be able to find the strength to do it for the sake of people they love ... Perhaps your sister really need to see and feel your unconditional love for her and to really understand how you are feeling and how scared you are of losing her, more than she need to understand her own feelings....

This makes think of my older brother. He was truly an opposite role model to take after. He was in the streets every night so that I may stay inside and hit the books. He sacrificed his life so that he may have given me a chance. It literately brought a tear to my eye when I wrote him a letter, He told me "you don't know how happy it makes him to hear from me." By him doing the things he did. It made me strive to not let him down. Do everything in my body, take sleepless nights studying. Truly if you have a loved one that's inside, give them call or a send a letter. You don't fully know how much it means to hear from someone in that hell, Which is not the prison but their own mind thinking they are thrown away in this system and left to rot....... Just a heart felt note to the world.............
