@volgzang546111 ай бұрын
@@jeako777 I see, how do you feel about setting them to do a mix of whiff and non-whiff punishable normals and practice to react only to the whiff punishable ones?
@jeako77711 ай бұрын
@@volgzang5461 I think that depends on which moves exactly you're talking about. I can only speak from my experience, but I think most mediums are almost impossible to whiff punish if you're specifically looking for the animation of the medium normal you're trying to punish. For example, it's VERY hard for me to whiff punish Ken's crMK if I'm trying to distinguish between his crLK and his crMK animation. However, if I try to react to ANY crouching normal animation, then I can whiff punish his crMK. When it comes to most heavy normals and even some medium normals (like Luke's stMP), they are quite whiff punishable even if you're only trying to react to their animation specifically. So your practice suggestion is good against heavy normals. But vs most medium normals, maybe you could use a setting where they do a mix of jump and the medium normal you're trying to whiff punish. I hope this explanation made sense to you

Hello I know I’m asking questions on old vids but some advice please if possible I’m not new to fighting games, I am to sf. What is the window to cancel hit confirms? For example I am having an enormous issue with just doing cMP into drive rush.. confirming it, not just throwing it out there cMP xx special or DR is 16 frames. Seems really tight. Whereas ken for example has so much unbelievably easy hit confirms it’s kinda crazy. I can confirm kens SHP into DP or DR or anything without thinking about it I find all of lukes hit confirms to be pretty hard but just wanna know how realistically confirmable some of his stuff is. I thought people are just throwing cMP into DR out like cMK into DR. Appreciate it
@jeako77711 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by your question, which cancel hit confirm specifically? Because it depends on which move we're talking about. Luke's sMP target combo is a 17f hit confirm upclose and 16f if spaced. Luke's cMK target combo is a 17f hit confirm. Most Luke players are probably just throwing out the cMP into drive rush (me too so far). But the highest level Luke players will hit confirm it if they aren't already. I absolutely agree with you that Luke's hit confirms are very tough, 100%. Ken has much easier important hit confirms (sMK target combo or sHP). High level Luke players will hit confirm even his 16f hit confirms. I think 15f hit confirming is like probably the limit that a human can do. While I'm personally still not good at this, I was able to hit confirm his 16f hit confirm sMP target combo 20 times in a row in training mode. This is by far the hardest thing to get good at with Luke, IF you even wanna be able to do this. Most people agree that Luke is easy to pick up and get good results with quickly, but he is very tough to master because of his hit confirms and arguably also because of his OD Knuckle into H DP combo.

@TestSubject173 Жыл бұрын
Why does the confirm window for st.mp into TC count as 17f? I thought it's 4 active frames + 11 hitstun frames + 1 extra frame so 16f in total. Plus you have to subtract another 1f from that since health bar change and visual effect happens 1f after hit. Realistically you also have to subtract 3f of input lag and up to 0.5f of display lag (due to progressive scanning). I think it's unreactable for most of the population.
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I subtracted that 1f in my original target combo hit confirm video because of that health bar and visual effects change that you're talking about. So technically you have 16f to react even though we call it a "17f window". The stun bar and visual effects happened 1f late in SFV as well. The way the window is calculated is by counting how many "hit freeze" / "hit stop" frames there are (not hitstun!) and how big the cancel window is. You may notice that heavy attacks have way more hit freeze than light attacks, which gives them a bigger "oompf" feel. Unfortunately, hit freeze isn't being shown in the frame meter in training mode. By going through the footage frame by frame, people can see that you can still cancel into target combo 17 frames from the point of impact.
@TestSubject173 Жыл бұрын
@@jeako777 I count the frame from the red bar in the frame meter appears till the blue bar appears and it's 16f in total. Doesn't this mean a 16f window?
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
@@TestSubject173 Well the actual cancel window doesn't have to always line up with the red bars.
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
But I can assure you it's 17 frames (if you include the 1st frame where the health bar hasn't updated yet). I did multiple attempts where I press the MP button exactly after 17 frames from the frame of impact and the target combo comes out. But if I pressed it after 18 frames then the target combo doesn't come out, so the cancel window was already over.
@TestSubject17311 ай бұрын
@@jeako777 I just remembered that there is a cancel timing display in training mode. While it only shows the cancel window to confirm into SA for luke's 5mp, it is 15f long instead of 16f, the same as I counted. I don't know why most online source get this differently. I also tested with macros, for luke's 2mp into drive rush, the latest timing to input parry is 20f after the 2mp (for reference, the command history looks like: 1f 2mp, 19f neutral, 1f parry), since the first active frame is 6f, that means 15f of confirm window. I've noticed that the cancel timing display also updates 1f later than character animation, frame meter and attack data, the same as hit VFX, so I suspect this is actually a bug, since in SFV the VFX happens the same frame as the animation.
@FightStreeting10 ай бұрын
Why do you set the delay to 2 frames and 4 frames?

@@jeako777 thank you very helpful. Crouch dp is way easier than crosscut. For Luke, is it a good idea to just crouch heavy punch for cross jumps until I get better at crosscut dp? Sometimes when I watch tournaments with top lukes like Mena they rarely actually DP. Not sure why. Assume because lukes crouch hp is that good and it’s not worth it ? Appreciate the help your channel is great
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
@@howdydoodydoo3631 That's a good point actually, I see Mena use crouch hp a lot more I think. But I'm not sure if that's just Mena's thing. Maybe it's because top players don't jump as much, so jumps by them are less predictable and crouch hp is maybe easier to do (which would kind of surprise me, because I feel like my dp is as fast as crouch hp). Or maybe it's because there's so many arc altering moves. So using crouch hp almost exclusively vs regular jumps is probably a pretty good choice, even if the reward isn't nearly as good. Crouch hp can work against crossups if the opponent was pretty close to you before jumping. And sometimes, if they're really far away, it also can prevent the opponent from even crossing you up because it's hitbox is so tall. However there's still many ranges in between where crouch hp will simply not work vs crossups, because it has no invincibility. So overall I wouldn't recommend using it vs crossups. And thank you for the love 🙏
