That's the selfishness of boomers not willing to die at a normal old age. IMO it's not moral to spend every penny you have to extend your life a few years thereby transferring all generational wealth from your progeny to the medical industrial system/wall street. They believe in the medical system and the drug companies, and don't rely on natural measures. But half the problem is the children, who allow them to be forced into nursing homes instead of taking them in, like humans have done for millennia. Nursing homes and retirement homes are ridiculously overpriced and will steal every saved penny and then some. So get a home your parent(s) can live in, and hire a visiting nurse part time if/when needed, help them with natural health measures (diet and supplements) and discourage most drugs for most conditions. The only hard decisions should be surgeries and cancer, those are tough, but I would reject chemo and radiation for alternatives. Hopefully they have good insurance.

Isn't there also a spiral also where if real rates is really really negative, that it still disincentivizes people to buy US Treasuries? Which means the US needs to have even higher rates, which is unserviceable, which means they need to print more, which re-creates the negative real rates condition... This in the end becomes a 3rd world country where they are owing foreign currencies (commodities really is what they need to buy, not necessarily actually to payback foreign currency debt, and foreign entities might demand either commodities back, or undilutable store of value. Effectively continually owing these undilutable store of value to settle commodities trade), and US becomes Venezuela which must keep more to service their debt of which nobody wants to buy because the currencies they are denominated in depreciates faster than the interest they get paid for.... If so this is going hyperinflate quicker than most thinks....

I just got to say I own Bitcoin but it sucks at just about everything compared to other blockchain technologies other than cross border transfers. Bitcoin will never replace the monetary system because it's too inelastic a system. Even gold grows by about two percent a year. But in a dollar or bond crisis Bitcoin will go up
