I am a grown man, and I have to admit I cried. I cried for two of the greatest Irish voices that have ever walked this Earth. I hope to one day visit Luke, Liam, Ciaran, Ronnie's, Tommy's, Barney's and all the other's graves one day. I pay my tribute to the greatest Irish singers of all time, in fact one of the world's greatest singers of all times. God may thee rest in peace in Heaven with the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Tommy Makem to be honest, whenever i feel down i simply put on some of the Dubliners or Clancy brothers. Somehow always makes me happy to listen to these legends do what they do best. RIP Liam Clancy and Luke Kelly

No people, no ethnicity, with their particular voices or accents, could ever touch the deepest parts of men's souls like the Irish. A thousand could sing the same ballad but only the pure Irish voice and dialect has been given such extraordinary power to break and to heal through song. So gifted are they to move hearts and souls with tender and strong lyrics all the same.... what gifts we have been given for just a few moments in this lifetime, what precious voices we have been touched with for a season, who now fall silent... what a great blessing to have such sacred recordings... farewell from my heart, no matter how long it has been, and thank you for pouring out your own souls in poetry and song for others ~

It's hard to imagine a more moving, poignant and true tribute than this one. And it comes from one great singer, to the greatest singer of them all. Luke Kelly sang like none before or since. He'll never be forgotten, in fact i think the opposite may be true. A whole new generation will discover his voice and will rejoice in it's majesty. RIP Lukey.

I was lucky enough to see Liam in concert in Carlow a few years ago where he gave an absolute brilliant performance on his own for over two hours. I had seen the Dubliners many times in years gone by in the 60s and 70s when Luke was alive. Liam Clancy was my favourite singer.R.I.P.

I think this was written in about 2004, because it's on The Essential Liam Clacy 2006 and Bobby Clancy died in 2002, and Luke was dead 20 years in '04,
